Do you prefer wired or wireless? I personally like wired so that I don't have to worry about recharging any batteries

You can submit poll ideas here: https://www.mangaupdates.com/topic/kilkdnn/site-manga-poll-suggestions

Previous Poll Results:

Question: Currently, I mostly read

Choices:

  • Manga (Japanese) - votes: 1234 (50.5%)
  • Manhua (Chinese) - votes: 71 (2.9%)
  • Manhwa (Korean) - votes: 877 (35.9%)
  • (Light) Novels (any of the above 3 origin languages) - votes: 183 (7.5%)
  • Other - votes: 79 (3.2%)

There were 2444 total votes. The poll ended: July 26, 2025

Manhua is so much lower than manhwa? I thought they would be more equal

Currently using more or less exactly 50/50 wired/wireless. One set wired mouse/keyboard and one set wireless. Wireless xbox controller and wired headset.

Does it count if I’m using my tablet or smartphone on WiFi router from cable internet, and because I’m reading/watching for long periods of time (because TIME is what I’ve got lots of !) and leave my devices with new capacious batteries attached to the USB cables attached to the wall power adapters, because they’d otherwise be depleted too fast and too often?!

Also, in that vein,

Wireless charging pads? No! Can’t use when charging that way!

Evidence -

Reading and noticing low charge

Can’t stop at important part

Didn’t realize how long it was

Device SHUTS DOWN !

And it takes MINUTES to recharge enough to turn back on and connect to WiFi !

That’s time I could’ve been reading !

I was doing wireless for some time, but lately switched back to mostly wired... Wired ones are more reliable, because transmitters in wireless stuff break...

It's simple: average manhua has much lower plot quality and much more often is cancelled/dropped (even without any information, just sudden disappear of author or even series is just removed without any announcement).

Agree with you there... Manhwa is probably even more consistent than manga when it comes to finishing the series and quality of work... Manhua is often low quality slop... Of course there are exceptions but very few...

I guess it depends on the device. I prefer a wireless mouse, but I can't do wireless earbuds because I find them uncomfortable and inconvenient in many different ways -- at least, considering my habits and lifestyle.

I chose "wired". It's basically what I used for everything.

The exception to this rule is gaming controllers, since when I'm using them, I'm usually sitting on my couch far from the device and all first-party controllers only come in wireless these days.

For all of my PC accessories, though, I always go wired, even a gaming controller, I'll just plug in and use as a wired controller. I don't think I would mind wireless headphones or a wireless mouse, but I figure if I'm just sitting right there, why do I need wireless? Plus, the wired options are usually less expensive, so I get it whenever possible.

Wired, unless there is a strong reason, to go wireless.

I generally like wireless headphones, and for the laptop and smartphone, I've got a bluetooth speaker and would like to get some wireless gamepads for them too (and connect to internet/network, by wi-fi), but aside from that...
Wired, all the way.
Nothing wireless, for the desktop computer.

All my computer peripherals are wired. A mechanical keyboard and a trackball mouse with a PS/2 connector. I do have a wireless phone but hardly use it. Normally I use the landline. Used to mostly use a phone booth in a park next to where I lived until a storm fell a tree on top of it and they removed it.

Just 10 minutes of reading through pubmed and looking into Moscow Signal tells anyone wireless devices aren't safe.

I haven't trusted any wireless tech without taking measurements since way back when I saw the 2000 documentary Public Exposure: DNA, Democracy and the "Wireless Revolution". Still relevant and readily available on the major video sharing platforms.

I have a wired keyboard but a wireless mouse. My wireless mouse glitches sometimes and I need to take out the USB and replug it. I kinda like the convenience of not being tethered but the connect... Give or take

Except for the very specific case of a M+KB for my chinese raspberry pi copy I use as a multimedia system, and using the mouse for my seldomly needed laptop, wired. Even for them, I use wired headphones. I hate BT audio, but then again I also have terrible luck with headphones, they all start to creak eventually and ends up driving me mad.

On desktops, wires are a non-issue, and so I would rather not have to have more things to remeber to charge.

Mm, it does have the annoying drawback, of switching between high quality sound mode, and speaker+microphone mode...
I, personally, think it's still worth it, to have a wireless headset, (and an easily portable BT speaker for laptop and smartphone), but it is a concern.
A matter of preference/priorities.

Also, I generally avoid anything with the traditional 2.5mm/3.5mm connectors, as they always fail.
It's not much of an issue for speakers on a desktop computer, as they just stay there, untouched, for ages, but if they move around and/or get plugged in and out...

Much better to have either USB, or just go wireless.
For smartphones, wireless is the only reasonable option, IMO.
Though nothing like airpods, that can easily drop out. You want the left and right bits, to be connected. (which also allows for somewhere to have controls) Like this, for example)

The only thing I regularly use wireless is a headphone because I'm a chronic chair spinner. And even then, I have a wired headset that I use for multiplayer gaming because I gave up trying to get the wireless to work with both the game sound and the chat.

Some things like keyboard and mouse, I prefer wired but I wouldn't mind having a wireless option for when I want to use the pc from a distance. Others like earbuds, I can't imagine adjusting to it. And then there's my gaming controller that I'd prefer to use wireless most of the time, but the constant setting up it requires is enough of a pain that I just use wired most of the time.

I use both. Wireless thought a day, and wired are for laying in bed.
