I agree that its been dragging for a while now but thats just because hes spending too much time on crap no one cares about. If he focused more on the characters everyone likes and didn't prolong battles where you already know who is gonna win in the beginning then nobody would have a problem with it continuing for alot longer. To put it simply if the mangaka was able to bring back the originality and excitement from earlier volumes and put it into the new chapters I would have no problem with it continuing for years to come.

What kills naruto is the fillers, and I doubt anyone gives a dam about random character #4 and his life. The problem is too many freaking characters....and we don't want to know the lifes of some...Because in the end you focus on everyone but the main character....and then the fans die off if the thing is too long....

I guess if he really wants to end the thing, and at the rate he is going, it will take another freaking 10 years to wrap it up, I don't care how awesome it is....after such a long time...people stop giving a dam....

1. We're talking about the manga, not the anime.

2. That never stopped the readers of Hajime no Ippo, Detective Conan, or any of the other Manga-ka that have series that spanned for decades.

3. I see no reason about having a bitch-fest about it. If you don't like it, fine don't read it, but I sure as shit don't want to hear you gripe about it. Yeah Naurto was probably planned to end with Akatsuki but I'm sure it will be milked: for an in stance Naruto looses 9-tails after no-logical-bond-having-event- accurs and Naruto works his way to the top with less chakra than Sakura (if possible)

The series will end when Naruto achevies his goal of being the "Greatest Hokage EVER!!". (emphisis his) He doesn't want to be "strongest ninja" so this goal depends on his charactor development, not on beating the Ultimate Evil.

If the manga stays as relitively realistic as it has been - I'd say the earlist he can be the "Greatest" is the same age Alexender the Great was.... age 19.

Naruto has aged 3 years in the last 10, so I'd bet on this lasting anouther 10 years!

sigh if only i was a genius upcoming mangaka and made a deal with jump that if i can make it's new bestselling author then i could cancel one it's serializations...
