It's been a while since I watched a real good anime. Does anyone know an anime with a captivating story? I mean an anime that makes me want to watch the next episode after each episode?
I prefer as many genres as possible mixed in the anime (except
yaoi/yuri)

That's rather vague. What anime have you seen (and liked)?

Well...for example...Elfen Lied, Higurashi no naku koro ni, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Shakugan no Shana...
Those were animes that interested me from the first episode. Those were animes with a dramatic twist as well...maybe something like that...but you can just suggest animes that you found interesting...

I guess I will do just that...

Juuni Kokuki - one of my very favorite anime; great fantasy setting and characters that actually grow.
Seikai no Monshou - very well-conceived science fiction (for an anime) with good characters
Trigun - classic; a long-time favorite of mine that is alternately silly and exciting, dramatic and moving

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch - Manga is a little iffy to me, but the anime was great, so yeah, I guess it can be considered "Captivating". The English Dub isn't half bad either. Plus, you can't help but love the insane characters, no matter how bad (as in their role in the story) they are...

Gankutsuou - Loved the storyline and art. The art in the anime is superb. Along with Code Geass, it's one of the few that I actually preferred the anime, but that's just one person's opinion ^_^

EDIT: Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Instant love is all what I can describe this one. Suicidal Teacher + Class with serious problems = AWESOMENESS!!! The openings and endings are also love.

I second that realy! and it's something like 45 episode so that will take some of you time : )

There is " Eden Of the East " who seem pretty good actualy ( great animation i was like " urg how they have the time to make one episode like that each week " )
