So my Mom and I were talking the other day about how she always flings her arm out to the passenger side seat to catch whoever is sitting there when she breaks. I was wondering why she did that, and she was like, "Oh, it's a throwback from when there weren't any chest straps; everyone did it." It was a learned behavior that didn't make sense anymore, but made sense when you learned it.

I guess mine would be eating my food as quickly as possible; my older brother would always eat my food as soon as he finished his, so I had to eat at his speed so he couldn't. He doesn't take my food anymore, but I still eat just as fast.

I know I probably have more, but learned behaviors are hard to spot, especially if they're your own.

Can you guys think of any of your own learned behaviors? I'm interested. 😃

I don't why but whenever someone ask me a question and I don't know the answer, I'll scratch my head. And if I'm nervous I'll scratch my arms or my legs. Perhaps I watch too many odd cartoons when I was still a kid 🤨

Thanks to my mum, everytime I see a single magpie I automatically raise my hand to my head and salute it.

She's superstitious see, and she's passed on the thoughts to me when I was young, so I do it on reflex without even thinking, even though I don't believe in it anymore.

I'm actually trying to break that habit >.<

Quote from Dragonfiremule

she always flings her arm out to the passenger side seat to catch whoever is sitting there when she breaks.:

I've had that done to me since I was a child, so it doesn't seem to strange to me, but now that I think about it, I don't know anyone under 25 that does it. I was actually in the car with my oldest sister recently and she did it, I couldn't help but laugh at the fact she thought her flimsy arm could keep me from crashing through the windshield.

I automatically duck when I see something in the corner of my eye, from years of bonking my head on the cabinet in my mom's kitchen. It was fine if the top door wasn't open, but my sister left it open, and since she was short enough didn't have to worry about hitting her head on it when she came around the corner. I, on the other hand, was just the right height for it to stab me in the eye.

So it doesn't matter if it is feet away, or whatever it is, when I see something in the corner of my eye, I duck.
