Edit: Sorry about title: Why should I respect someone else's religion?
Okay so here it goes basically I do not beleive in a god there is no such thing I do not believe we go anywhere when we die I just feel you should live life to the full now.
Religion is kinda like terrorism in the way that they put fear on you if you don't do what the church tells you to do. If you don't abide by these rules you will burn in hell. With terrorism if you don't do as we say we will blow up your buses, trains, plains ect..
I think it is pretty common sence to just be kind to one another with out having to be told by some mysterious being.
My main point is if I beleive in nothing then I expect these religious nuts to respect that instead of telling me I will burn in hell because that to me does not earn my respect for there belief.
I really don't like how religion can't be talked about in a negative way because it is a touchy subject I am not afraid to say that religion is all nonsence. 😀
So tell me why should I respect something I don't believe in?

Uh, didn't your mom teach you not to do things to people that you wouldn't like to be done to you? And I think everyone wants they beliefs to be respected. Besides, if people didn't respect each other (not just in terms of religion), the world would end up in chaos. And, since all people are different, saying that everyone should think the same way as you doesn't make sense.
I think it's a silly question.

Yeah but what I am saying is respect is earned if you tell me that something bad is going to happen to me if I don't follow in your ways then why should I respect that?
Edit: I am also saying it is common sence to treat other nicley because in order to survive as a species it requires us to not all kill one enougher that is common sence.

I respect that you don't believe in god. There. Now you can follow the golden rule and just respect that I believe in god. Plain and simple. We don't have to agree, but we don't have to give each other a hard time about it. I really just respect that that's the choice a person makes and no one but that person can control their beliefs (or lack thereof).

That's fine I am mostly aiming at people who pressure there religion onto others.

Well, the world would be a nicer place if there were no people doing this, or people doing the same with atheism. Of course, the world is not like this, sadly, but if you want to change it, start from yourself. Again, don't do things you wouldn't like to be done to you, it's simple.

Very simple indeed and again sadly because there is such things as debate and opinions that the world wont ever be peacful as such.
I would have to say I would rather live a happy lie than a sad truth.
i am an atheist too but its wrong to say that religion is like terrorism....in ancient times when law and order was not so prevalent ...i believe humans adopted religion as a means of boosting people's conscience.
apart from that u dont have to respect anyone's religion....just dont go kicking shrines....indifference isn't a crime you know 😀

Yeah maybe comparing it with terroism is a little to far haha and I am not really slaying religion because as an artist I know how important religion was in influencing a lot of great art masterpieces. I am more on about the people who shove it in your face.
Respect the tradition.
If you go to Korea, people bow to each other. You do the same.
If you go to Mecca, a city based around a religion, you'd be wise to respect the traditions.
If you go to someone else's house, and they tell you to take off your shoes, you respect their tradition.
If someone is in your house and they decide to pray facing east or west, are you really gonna interrupt them and express how much you dislike religion?
Respect someone else's religion.
Respect someone else's tradition.
Now on the subject of Religious validities... smh.
You'll learn someday that the difference between right and wrong has nothing to do with the truth. People who push their views onto others are wrong, doesn't matter if its the truth. And since religion is a philosophical battle of what if's there's no point arguing who's religion carries the most truth. In my eyes, their all wrong.
But so what. Some parts teach you how to be an upstanding human being. Some parts teach you how to be international nuisance. But in every human endeavor that yields power, there is good and evil. From government, to big business, to religion its all the same story. So if someone is clearly an ostentatious religious fanatic, then there is no reason to bash their religion... just bash that person. Simple

So I should fear these people then and do what they ask of me because if I don't they will do something to me. I understand with the taking off shoes but thats not religion thats tradition. The point is my view of the world is diffrent but I am not saying I am right I am just saying why should I respect that in which I am forced to believe even if I don't believe it.
I supose that is a fair point just bash the people not the belif I agree with that actually. 😀

That would mean they're not respecting your beliefs. In that instance, you're really free to reciprocate and tell them to go screw themselves, or to be the better man (or woman) and respectfully decline their advances.
The key is to not be the first person to show disrespect to the other persons beliefs. Otherwise, you're no better than them.

I am a staunch Atheist and in this matter must say one thing to answer you question: "Majority Wins"
Like others said: "When in Rome do what the Romans do or at least pretend"
But if someone forces me into something I force my opinions on them. That keeps most of the barking dogs at bay.
But let me tell you something. Most of the people around you who you feel are forcing their views on you are usually unaware of your beliefs or are driven by some weird sense of duty to bring back the stray into the herd. Don't antagonize such people.

Who said anything about fear? It's just a cultural courtesy to show respect to people's traditons. Doesn't matter if the traditions are religious based or not.
And if someone is trying to force you doesn't mean the religion is wrong. The people who are forcing it upon you are the ones whom are wrong for it.

Yeah I agree with you on that one.
