I've been reading 1984. It's quite interesting and depressing.

For the past two weeks I have been reading "Macbeth;" just today I have been reading a PSAT prep book.

i read "flipped"
it was a nice change from the dark themed books i usually read

Read book or books everyday so it's not that special to me. Sometimes I read some books again for several times, depend on my mood or what I want. Last newest book is " The Visit", original " Der Besuch der alten Dame" from Duerren Matt, 3rd time "The Wise Man's Fear" from Rothfuss and "The Unexpected Guest" 2nd time from Agatha Christie

Oh wait, no I lied. I tried reading some urban paranormal stuff suggested by a member at another forum I visit, but I just couldn't get into it. The genre isn't my cup of tea. Or rather, that particular book wasn't my cup of tea.

I think that was 4-5 months ago? :/ I used to be such a bookworm as a kid. Age 9-17...don't know what happened. I'm sad now haha.

Paper Book who knows. Ebook this morning during my walk before work.
Kindles are useful Manga, ebook, and music on one device.

Yesterday, I read the 1st of the Dresden Files. Oh and I'm also in the middle of reading the 9th Vampire Hunter D novel, and "Imprisoned with the Pharaos" by Lovecraft.

its utter garbage

mentally ill ppl and their sexual escapades
page up and down with nothing but sexual perversion in some form or the other is just not for me
and the very unnatural way the characters speak
they comunicate in
long speaches

If by that last comment you mean "happily married to the same woman since college" then I suppose that last comment is accurate.

Having read the first two volumes in Japanese I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Yes, there's sex, but it's not more pronounced than any of Murakami's other novels, and certainly nowhere near as any number of Victorian classics, which we are all already aware pale in comparison to the modern pulp romance novel anyway (in terms of sheer sexual content, I mean.) I can only assume that there's something you yourself are uncomfortable with here- it's not like they do anything particularly wild or strange. There's just some sex. Lots of brilliant novels contain sex. Get over it.

The "talking in speeches," thing, though, may be a valid complaint. Murakami can allow himself to drag on, even in Japanese, and oftentimes the poorer translators tend to inadvertently increase this effect simply because many words and phrases that are complex in other languages sound quite simple and ordinary in Japanese. English readers of Natsuo Kirino's work often have the same problem. I'm not sure what language you're reading his work in, but chances are it's one with a subpar translator.

On topic: Reread Kita Morio's Ghosts ("Yuurei") recently and was quite satisfied. A tragically underrated novel. Today I also read a sizable amount of Yeats from a compilation in the library. For whatever reason my own poetry collection can be quite lacking and I occasionally must journey out to find appropriate references.
