Not exactly new, but certainly a worthwhile function to use for people who can't use irc

The "Chat" function not only links you to the baka-updates irc channel (where you can talk in real time with your favourite admins) but also allows you to download! gasps

So all you people who want to download off irc but can't quite figure out how to configure it click "Chat" and ~~* voila you can dl manga yay!!

(~~*) Okay fine its not exactly that easy

-so you click the button
-then choose a nickname
-and say hi to everyone in #baka-updates channel

-to join whatever channel you want: eg. lurk (!!!)
-----> how do you join a channel?
----------> click on "Status"
----------> type "/join #lurk"
(after that further instructions are given if your nickname is not registered)

basically---------> type "/nickserv register PASSWORD EMAIL"
(of course you just make up your own password and email---then you get an email a confirmation message in which they tell you to type something like...

---------------------->"/msg nickserv confirm 12sd9f8jdl"
(of course this is just an example, do not copy 😉)

and now that you're registered you can
-------> "/join #lurk"
