Shoujo/Shounen Ai bias

So what's the deal here? Why is there so much more yaoi then yuri?
If you just straight up search it here there are 210 pages of yaoi and only 24 of yuri. There is almost ten times more yaoi then yuri lol. Does that not seem ridiculous to anyone else?
Even if you take it to its less extent of Shoujo Ai and Shounen Ai, there is still way more Shounen Ai. There are 20 pages and 80 pages respectively.
I don't get why Japan is so hung up on dude couples to such an extent.
I'm personally a huge Shoujo Ai fan, and it sucks. Because there is so little of it out there, and to make it worse Girlfriends was the first I read of the genre, so after that nothing else seems even close to as good. I've read almost every Shoujo Ai title out.
Anyway. I digress, this is more of me ranting than an actual topic because I'm so bored and have nothing to read.

its over-representation on this site in general is due to the fact that there are a lot more scanlation groups dedicated to shounen ai and yaoi titles than there are groups for shoujo ai titles. i don't think it has to do with the amount in japan in general (have no idea on those numbers). just more fans of BL willing to scanlate 😀

When you search here it only filters by if it's translated or not if you tell it to, so that has nothing to do with it.

Yes, it has. There are a lot of manga that don't have a page here until they are scanlated.

I don't think it's ridiculous, I mean, Japan's pretty big on hentai too. There's more hentai than yaoi/yuri/shounen-ai/shoujo-ai, and hentai usually has more 'yuri' going on (yaoi is usually only involved if it's shota-con lol) - plus, there's a lot of women (and female mangakas) more interested in shounen-ai than shoujo-ai (I don't really see male mangakas lurking in the shoujo-ai section rather than yuri). I'm not saying "all." either, just "most."

Then you could say that about both yuri and yaoi, because both world have un translated works. And if you go search right now you will see a very large amount of both yaoi and yuri un translasted but still have pages.

You have it reversed, there is more yaoi then yuri. So it being in hentai or not has no relevance, by your logic there would be more yuri because it's used in hentai more often. But it's still the minority.
And the shoujo-ai field is mostly dominated by female authors. The best out there, Girlfriends is written by a female author.

My question is - why make two exactly the same threads under different titles?
This topic already exists. Use this thread if you want to voice your opinion.
Also, two things: Rant threads aren't allowed and anything regarding girl love or boy love is to be discussed in the Yaoi/Yuri forum.
I'm locking this and your other thread.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.
