The Last of Us can do anyone in. It seems to me that it should be even more effective for the usually stonefaced, gruff, older gents who would have some level of resonance with the main male character, Joel. One beautiful scene at the last leg of the journey, as well as the actual ending were both quite emotinally moving moments.

Also, the end to the prologue chapter had me swallowing air and blinking away something from the corners of my eyes.

I never cry at games, manga or anime because I am cold and heartless, or at least that's what my friends tell me biggrin

Yep. The second part of Digital Devil Saga. It was like getting smacked in the face. And not just once either.

Such a beautiful game though. It made such an impression on me.

Many times, actually xD
I cried with Crysis Core as well. That yell broke my heart, completely. I was already crushed and then that (I played the undub version. Now check it and see if it isn't waaaaaaaaay sadder than the english dub xD).
Final Fantasy X. The ending. Final Fantasy 9. The ending too.
I'm a sensitive person, what can I say? xD

Persona 2: Innocent Sin really screwed me up. More of a lump in the throat situation, but yeah, on the verge of crying in many moments, same with Persona 3 and To The Moon. I think the only game that made me actually cry was Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, some scenes are just heartrending.
Speaking of "heartrending", I'm going to play Mother 3 soon and I've been hearing about how tear-jerking it is. Oh boy.

Yeah, I'm fairly emotional. Ghost Trick was the last thing I cried at I think.

I did.

I cried when I played Hatoful Boyfriend and Wadanohara and The Great Blue Sea.

Well, it has been a while but I definitely cried a bit at FF7 Aeries scene...
But more recently to The Walking Dead game in many scenes, but especially at the ending of season 1 bigrazz
Also, it has been mentioned but To The Moon has very emotional moments... I specially remember get together at the fair, and the to the moon scenes... smile

Those are the ones I can remember, but there have been more bigrazz

Yes, since all I see people talking about are RPGs I'm gonna name a few games that made me cry that were not RPGs
Halo:Reach
Halo 4
The walking dead
The wolf among us (I couldn't go on after the end of episode 1)
Sleeping dogs[spoiler](hey! I liked Winston)
I also cry everytime I die in minecraft

Yes sir, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Everytime I see that picture of them I tear up. The crazy thing about it is I've never played the game.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the game JOURNEY.

The whole game is only about 1 hour long, but it is amazing. Had me bawling my eyes out for half an hour. That's pretty awesome considering the game has absolutely no dialogue at all.

I am, actually, deeply ashamed that I didn't think to mention Journey. Such an emotionally powerful game, especially considering the utter lack of dialogue.

Another that I just remember, thanks to a remotely related topic, is Persona 3. The ending was kinda touching, but the thing that actually had me in tears was the Sun social link. When you get to lv.10 and read the story of the pink alligator... bawwwwwwwwwww.

The end of Pokémon MD Explorers of time/darkness/sky had me crying
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
since you disappear at the end, after saying goodbye and your partner is left alone and even a few months later he still isnt able to overcome his loss. He breaks down in tears at the beach and thats when the credits start rolling. Even though in the end you are given life again, it is still one of the most emotional scenes i saw in video games.

When i started the game i would have never believed it could make me cry, especially not a pokemon game biggrin
On side note Crisis Core ending is pretty damn sad, too.
