That is part of it I think.
I also think its because we like violence more... (that might not have anything to do with getting addicted just why we play more).

Yeah, I've read this book called "Everything Bad is Good for You", which basically says the same thing. People are addicted to video games because it gives them instant rewards. It takes you only a few hours (or days) to build up a strong character in a video game, or to get a "bonus", a "secret" or an "upgrade". In real life, things like that (like: a job promotion, a rise in maturity), takes a lot longer. So video games are an easier way to feel rewarded. According to the book at least, it just turns out that men are more attracted to instant rewards.
But I guess it's also the fact that like, 95% (or maybe even more) of all games right now are made by men. Even those games that are supposed to be targeted for women. Very sad.
I still love video games though... XD
