Even the most badass character will have some problems against some enemies. So what do you think is a good way for a manga character to increase his power. Explain your choice if you will.
For me the best way is

Demon contract/spirit possession/alien parasite! because I find it more interesting 😀

I call it training. As in BEFORE the fight, the character gets stronger, no need to pull crap out of a brown place like Goku turning super saiyan on freeza.

I like the "Secret move that increases strength but damages body", but only when it's done right. If there's any form of cop-out (like a deus ex machina for fixing said damage), it becomes one of the worst cliches.

Goku turning super saiyan on Freeza was epic when it happened. The problem came in when every battle manga started doing it over and over (including Dragonball).

Experience and pure creativity of powers. People deal with what they have, and win their battles with it.

Otherwise, something like demons or awakened powers in mid-battle are just due to plot, and does not give the feeling of character development.

I chose "Genius/badass char which get's stronger with each battle!"

well, i chose this coz i think it's more realistic than the other choices... You get more battle experience and battle scars after each bad guy 😛

Just training. I feel like its not realistic if you're losing a battle, and halfway through you get some kinda powerup. Well actually, whats a better way is if the min characters really smart and he comes up with a strategy to win while losing if that makes sense. Or he learns something that he can use to win, or if he always had an ace up his sleeve. I feel like the need to save someone will never let u win a fight if ur clearly much worse

No training.
I like it when they can dominate the enemy from the get go.
The whole fight is just the guy toying with this other guy, giving him hope he can actually win, then, BOOM! and it's over.
Like Majeh when he fights in that tournament at the start.

I don't care how the guy powers up or if he is overpower from the start. I just don't like if the guy powers up in the middle of the fight

The guy must know his powers and since the beggining of the battle have the power to win, even if it's a close fight

Although I like it when a character gets a dramatic power up from getting ridiculously angry, such as when freeza and goku fought (that was crazy though, goku gets like 10 times stronger -.-), or when ageha fights miruko in the second future of psyren. That type of power-up actually gets me a lil' pumped and makes me wanna: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qICwgHT5rpg

My favorite powered-up character in any manga is Chun-Hwa (Id) from the manhwa Id lol >> He gets it with some sort of "contract" but the storyline makes it feel like he was always overpowered.
