So, I've watched the first season incl OVA:s and thought it was pretty good.

Does the anime follow the manga storyline closely?

How far does the anime (1st and 2nd season) go (relative to the manga chapters, that is)?

I can't say what chapters correspond, but it follows the manga pretty closely from what I've read and watched.

Anime is following manga very closely. Though the ending few episodes of season 1 are new and through season 2 some fillers may be found

The anime follows the manga quite closely, tho both have things not shown in the other, so i do both ^^

I think the anime follows the manga (s1 & s2) to around volume 11 or 12, where the next term starts. So if you wanna pick up the manga after watching the anime, start around there And though some of the fillers arn't that good, some are, and watchin more of Yakumo is always a good thing =)

They say that third season (which is belived to start at february) will contain manga starting from Kyoto arc. So everything before Kyoto is in previous 2 seasons

Its has to be the manga,

I started watching the anime, and got so bored that i stoped around episode 7. But then i picked up the manga and it was so much better.

SR anime is one of the best manga adaption I ever seen - some of the series have so lame anime versions, but at leas School Rumble hasn't failed here.
3 season...still so far away, although closer and closer...

Warn: Banned

Can Not say. The story lines are different most of the time. Irrational variable input.

well the anime ends at around chapter 161 of the manga. If you want to know the rest you should start reading from there. I was worried that I would miss something in the manga so I read from the beginning and it is exactly the same as the anime (or I should say the anime is the same as the manga). The anime to me is better since it has all the voices and expressions added to the already funny plotline present in the manga.
