This is a spoiler, but because it is so hard to read the text in a long spoiler, (it's too light when highlighted...) I just left the warning in the subject.

I'm a little confused about what happened to Vanir... was he killed in the first part(The Gift of a Contract), and is a replica in the second(A Pact with Angels)? Azrael was told to 'show' his other power(of killing, or simply of a weapon). So, if the power was of killing then Vanir is actually dead... and if it was of a weapon(more likely), Vanir is in some kind of passive mental state... or something...
At the end, in the author's note, it says Vanir is living in a dream world... so I guess he's not conscious...
I may have answered my own question, but if anyone has another view, I'd be glad to hear it.

Overall, I found that not enough background was given prior to the start of the plot in this story. and there are times when the scenes change too quickly, and I feel like I missed a page... I understand it is supposed to be short, but... It made me expend more effort than the story itself was worth... but if the starting story had been expanded, and the pace slowed a little(adding in more scenes, and having the climax come later...) it would have been very good.
