I second this. By far the best k-drama, asian drama, any drama in existence.

I also rather liked Sweet 18. It's silly, but pretty entertaining.

Every other k-drama I've tried drove me insane with melodrama (although there is a bit in those two mentioned, I found it manageable). I sort of fell in love with Yoon Eun Hye after watching Coffee Prince, and actually watched Goong just because she was in it. It was horrible. *shudder*

Yeah there is always some melodrama (aaah the scene in hospital.... which drama don't have one lol)
But generally there isn't that much when it's comedy/romance drama, except maybe in the episode 13 to 16 (generally the guy fall in love at episode 5~7, and the girl start too feel the same around episode 12, so to fill the lasts episodes, they need a bit some melo xD)

but i would recommend you to try at least Sungkyunkwan Scandal or The Vineyard Man, those don't have melodrama if i remember well bigrazz

I'm a k-pop fan... I trying to get into k-drama. Most K-pop artists that are part the YG Family is what I mainly listen to. However, I also listen to DBSK, Infinite, OneWay, Rain, wonder girls, SHINee, 2PM, MBLAQ...etc.

KPop -> NO... Just, NO. (don't like showbiz, don't like idols, don't like the 'look at me!' (visual kei) kind of people)
I just don't like (most) Asian 'pop' music... or pop from any other country bigrazz . I mostly listen to music that I simply enjoy, country of origin and labels are irrelevant. I tend to avoid music that is overly hyped or made with the clear intention of making money. That said, I'm not all that familiar with the S. Korean music industry. I know Japan is very active in the 'Classic' world, and have allot of music from there, but just can't think of any S. Korean artists.

KDrama -> Definitely yes. In my opinion S. Korea is the current leader in good quality television shows (as in series). Sure, American TV shows generally have allot more action and has a higher tempo, but is seriously lacking in terms of decent story (which I consider more important).
I'm not saying all is bad, S. Korea also has drama that shouldn't have seen the light of day, it's just personal preference often influenced by my mood.
The KDrama I've watched (quite a few) were in general light (as in not depressing) and just the right amount of funny not to become annoying or make the cast look stupid. Even historical drama is very easy to watch for those without proper background knowledge of that era (I'm dutch).

You couldn't be more right.

Obviously the majority of k-dramas tend towards the melodrama and tears overload, my first of which was Stairway To Heaven (my mum loves it to bits -_-). Some of the ones with mainstream success like Boys Over Flowers and Goong I just cannot appreciate nor can I comprehend why it has reached the overwhelming popularity it has. I guess our tastes do differ. The ones I do like are Coffee Prince and My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho.

As for K-music, I listen to:
- Epik High
- Wheesung
- Loveholic
- Bye Bye Sea
- One Way
- Big Bang
- SHINee

laugh
buy the dvd?

I love korean's historical drama, (just finish watching The Restless - Kim Tae Hee), not a fan of the modern drama.. except watching the bishies... like kim bum.
See here for recent series.
For singer i like Rain (for his dance>>sexy), and DBSK (After they sang One Piece's Share The World, Break Out, etc all in Japanese).
