Must read: World War Z by Max Brooks
If zombies were to attack today, this is what would happen. From the perspectives of the survivors.

Others: (1) Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, (2) High School of the Dead (all the zombie cliches in manga style plus ecchi content)

seconded WWZ. Just re-read it for the 3rd time. I'll recommend an anime I guess, Tokyo Majin.

Only the first episode contains zombies. You won't find any zombies in the other episodes. xD

There's a short comedy one-shot called Rome-Rome, it's pretty funny. That's all I can think of...

There are Resident Evil Novels which cover the game and in between.
