I loved the art style, it was something that im not used to and has a really realistic feel to it compared to normal manga.
The reason why I didn't say the movie is because it doesn't have much character development compared to the others.

Well, I went with the novel... but I've never seen the film or read the manga, either. ._.;

But, considering how most adaptations end up, I think I'd choose the book even if I did see the movie and read the manga...

I really think it depends on which you read first, though. It's like if you see the movie before the book or vice versa: You just end up criticizing what did and didn't happen, and the enjoyment is taken out of it.

does anyone know if a bookstore in the US would sell the novel?

Same, pretty much. Plus I like getting to imagine things the way I want, as opposed to being stuck in someone else's vision of it. That and the author of the novel has an AMAZING writing style... I should "borrow" it again one of these days...

And I'm pretty sure Amazon sells it... checking... yup, they've got it. Read it!!
