Hmm... I'm thinking about it but nothing really comes to mind. I mean, there are things that once read cannot be unread.. There are things I've read that have changed my views, my opinions, my perspectives, my tastes, and other such things which I shan't get into.. But nothing I would consider scarring. I just read it, and adjust.. If it's that disturbing it usually gets washed out of my mind after a few nights of good night's sleep. I think.. I don't remember to be honest. ^-^;;

Although if you would like to try scarring me mentally forever you're always free to send me a private message of something that you think would destroy my stable mental state. =) I look forward to it, although I don't expect much. u.u''

Oh well, should anyone decide to take on the challenge I wish you luck. :3

Well, i started reading smut manga really early... like when i was 10 years old... so yeah it doesn't really affect me because i'm used to it. But...

Haou Airen. Yup. My first manga (yes seriously) was Kaikan Phrase, and naturally i got interested in Shinjo Mayu and to eventually i found this manga. I found the true meaning of smut the hard way ._.
He rapes her, like literally all the time. And the fact that he's always saying 'I'm doing this to protect her' and rape-as-a-plot-device is just full of shit.
Oh and that part where he rapes her in front of Kaafai or something. This manga is the reason why i can talk about sex and other stuff so freely and easily in front of my friends~

Desire Climax I actually liked this manga. Still, i couldn't make it past after 5 chapters or something. It... for a smutty lover like me, it was just full of shit. Useless heroine stereotype.

Honey x Honey Drops.... ah, yes, Minami Kanan . Desire Climax wasn't even half as bad as this. The only time where she stands up to him is the first 10 pages. I think. The female lead truly defines the two words 'useless' and 'crybaby'. Nah, Minami Kanan truly defines useless female leads. I can't believe people actually read this. Never, never will i read this again.

I tried to read hentai lately. This was one that I was interested in at first :
Ah! Foolish Father and Daughter
All i can say is i don't think i'll be reading another hentai anytime soon. I couldn't even make it past like, 5 pages.

I think one of the factors that contributed to my disgust was the fact that it was incest. 😀 It's really fricking disgusting IMO for the father to be f**king the daughter upside down when uh, she likes it. And i'm not very used to seeing girl's clits and [ahem] THE PHALLUS. NOOOOO. Not even Mayu Shinjo goes that far. This manga wasn't even that sexually explicit in truth.
Still, pretty big jump from smut to stuff like that.

From my experience with Hentai manga, I don't think i'll be picking up a guro manga anytime soon... reading the synopsis is enough to creep me out in itself. I don't think i need graphical explanations.
Perhaps I'll start with Yaoi... it looks interesting 😛

... hm, let's see, not so much manga, but 9/10 of the eromanga/ hentai out there; MAEDA Toshio's work... I hate eroguro and lolita-complex porn.

Talking anime though, the OAV, Legend of Blue Wolves was disgusting, and so was Bible Black anime adaption.

And almost any chaste anime/manga adaption of a porn game is just stupid. Like how School Days, Kanon, Clannad etc. were.

It's okay, most girls end up reading smut about 15 in Japan, its just cultural... but reading smut at ten? I watched my first BL anime when I was 14 years old, haha.

I like Kanan Minami's art, not her stories. Both of her works OAVs are retarded.

Try something by TATENO Makoto or even Takemiya Keiko's classical BL manga, Kaze to Ki no Uta, which practically started the BL genre. Most yaoi is not like hentai, unless you read stuff by certain artists, like things by Guren Naomi or Minami Haruka, which is pretty smutty.

Hentai is all pornographic, that's why I don't really like it.

Well, I never really experience some real shock but I remember when I first read a Shounen-Ai manga, it's kinda shocking though. It was around the age of 9 or 10, when I started to like Shoujo mangas. My mom didn't really know what manga to buy for me, so she just randomly picked a manga with a beautiful picture on it and the cover's color is PURPLE. It's a manga by WATANABE Taeko, the second story is just a normal Shoujo story, but the first one is Shounen-Ai. It's not really perverted, actually. It's kinda said but at one scene my mind was just screaming, "OH MY GOSH DID THOSE TWO BOYS JUST KISSED!?" So that's how I know that Shounen-Ai genre actually exists in this world. 🤢

That's so funny those were my first manga too. Haou Airen left some scar tissue, it was the first manga/anime related thing I read where the ending was so sad. The plot generally got sad but I was a sheltered happy kind of kid. And remeber thinking for months "That's not supposed to happen!!!" I wanted to make the mangaka change the ending so bad. Kaikan Phrase was my first smut anything. I'm not proud of it either. I saw it first on some video on YouTube and then I couldn't find the other chapters but I found chapter summaries and a few pictures. It would take me atleast a month to figure out you could read scanlated manga online from that point. This was cerca maybe 5th/6th gradeish

Lol, I've been scarred by too many to even recall which ones got to me now (I'm rather forgetful as well). But I'm glad they did. I rather like being scarred by manga. It's a fun experience.

But I'd probably have to say that the one that left the deepest impact on me was 7SEEDS. That changed my way of thinking. It haunted me for a long time (& still does.) At one point, I even had to stop reading & walk away from it for a few months because I was sobbing so hard, lol. It's truly a masterpiece. Aside from that one, to a lesser degree; Goth. It's not very scarring when I read it now, but sense I had read it for the first time in 7th grade, I guess it was a bit too much for me then, lol. Although I loved it.

Coponicus no Kokyuu I don't think I'm ever going to forget that one... but it scarred me in a good way if that's possible xD

Sakura-Gari had the negative scarring, but then again, that's how I always feel when I read Yuu Watase 🤣

After watching Sukisho I decided to give yaoi manga a try. The second one I read was called 'Lamb of god". Just thinking about it gives me the creeps!! It was about this crippled married guy and the guy he hired to 'please' his wife. The wife goes missing along with the help and the crippled guy can't get away from the nut-job hired helper...who it turns out in the end has kill the wife. Blah. In writing this I remembered an even worse one about a cop who was raped and quit his job, only to have his rapist come back after him. And when the guy was finally arrested he was like 'I’ll wait for you..." yaoi manga can be really messed up!
And a bonus one I think everyone can relate to: Fullmetal Alchemist episodes 6 & 7. Ninxander!

Ichi the killer, berserk, and gantz all messed me up a little bit, but I got over it 😛 I don't think I've ever really read anything that would have affected me long term.

when i read the name of the post "manga that scarred you for life" I immediatly thought of Dragon Head!!
first of all the topic: you ride a train with your class then just before you get into a tunnel you see an explosion and after that it's all dark! after a while you wake up and see that all of your comrades are dead! despite of a girl and a reeeeeaaallllyyyy freaky boy!!After a while you get out of the totally crashed tunnel only to see that the world somehow collapsed!
Another thing that was really scary was the different characters!!! Especially the guy in the tunnel!! A very scaring person!!
and at last the way of drawing the whole scenery was stunning!! and it goes really good with the scene!! anyway i'm normally not into these horror thing mangas but that was really good!! but i'm also going to check out other mangas mentioned in this post 🙂
oh another manga who was really scarry: Elfenlied!! Again the whole scenery scared the crap out of me!! but not in such a "whole-world-collapsing" kind o way!!
