Kinda interested in this series... What ever happened with scanlation of it? I just saw the anime series and thought it was pretty interesting (sans all the weird seemingly anti-american stuff). How closely does the anime follow the manga?

We (Illuminati) scanlated volume 01 2 weeks ago, and we'll start working on volume 02 soon.

I don't know if the manga follows the anime, although I think I heard somewhere say that the antagonists are different.

hmm, so that's it? I was thinking about checking the manga series out if there was a significant enough of a difference.

Well, there basically are two B+ mangas, one is a Hagi-centered shounen-ai thing, but we can skip that... The other one goes simply as "Blood+" and has a -one- rather helpful user comment.

The artwork looks a lot like the art in the endings of the anime, and that's kinda nice.

I'd check it out.
It's not that I have yet done that, though ^__^

Blood - The Last Vampire 2000
Genre:
Status: Complete
Mangaka: Benkyo Tamaoki

A powerfully drawn original manga based on characters and situations from the anime 'Blood: The Last Vampire',
Benkyo Tamaoki updates the Vietnam War-era anime story to present-day Japan. The immortal Saya returns a generation later, but still clad in her trademark sailor suit and armed with ancient samurai sword,”continuing her unholy war against the vampiric Chiropterans. Infiltrating a gang-ridden high school, Saya more than suspects the brutal set known as "OGRE" is just the latest mask of her blood thirsty prey.

Project completed and available in irc channel.
Xeen hosts this series (for the moment).

Blood+ manga is different than the anime, though some parts are the same
Blood - the last vampire is also a very kool anime....

but out of all i like the Blood+ anime the most.... dont know why, i espcially like the Saya with longer hair...... mad why do Kai have to cut it at the end !!!!....o well

i thought it sucked more than the anime...much more....

manga made off from anime are usually bad, but i intensely dislike how they made the plot to focus more on kai than hagi mad ...screw the human!

it's short too...there're too many scenes with fan-service, which destroy the delicate mood of the plot conveyed in the anime....
