A reason other than sex

Okay boys and girls here is the question:
For what reason do men and women go into relationships? And you cannot say sex or anything sexually related.
If it is for companionship and understanding, a good friend of either gender can fulfill that role.
So what other reasons could there be for men and women to be together other than sex?
Your thoughts?
The world would be a bleak place without manga.

To me it's about what I gain from a relationship. If it ain't sex then it has to be $$Money$$. HaHaHaHa!
BTW.... that was a serious, honest answer.

man and woman both seek mates that will accompany them until death. They want someone that understands and cares about them. Someone they truly like to be around with no matter what.

Well... I like to think that I look for a partner in order to have someone witness my existence and in order for me to have an alternate existance that I can know. In oder words I think that love is a way of blending experiences while also being some sort of incentive to live or more likely a way to make yourself real.... Ah....... nevermind........ I'm into existentialism and stuff 🙂 )) To translate the previous paragraph: 'cause we're lonely 😛

I think it's because we can't stand to be alone, and while friendship works for companionship, the idea of sharing the rest of your days with another person that can stand you sounds tempting (a good friendship and last years, but there are no exclusivity). But talking seriously, i can say it's the search of a bond deeper than friendship.
Just my opinion though.

someone that is interested in you more than "just a person to hang out with"
Or it validates who you are as a person.

To build a family and continue the propreation of the Human species. Although this means sex is a reason, it is not the ultimate goal, as the only point to sex is to create more annoying kodomos.....
Holy crap ares6 actually wrote something non-offensive and what's more surprising I agree with it...is the apocalypse coming?

For me, it would simply to have someone there for me. While friends can do that too (mine can't. I don't have a lot of close friends, in my opinion), a partner will be able to give physical comfort. By that, I don't mean sex. I mean things like cuddling - it's like a child's desire to be with his or her mother. Only, as you grow up, you can't exactly cuddle with your mother anymore, so people look for it in another form.
That's what I think, anyway. It doesn't even make a lot of sense.
