Wow... I had no idea there were manga that long... longest one I knew of was InuYasha, but it stops at 56... yikes!! 😲

And the thing is, Kochikame and Golgo 13 are both ongoing!! Are they trying to beat a world record or something??

Naw, they're both episodic work that can simply go until the end of time or the author's death. Both have become famous simply for existing (especially Kochi Kame), so they basically have a free ticket to continue until the author wants to stop. And from an economic perspective, having a small number of people purchase a great deal of volumes gives the same revenue as having a great deal of people purchase a small number of volumes, so the publishers are all making a decent amount of money off of them even if no one particularly likes the series, giving them no reason to cancel it.

Personally, I'm 'meh' to both. Golgo13 is slightly higher on my list, but neither even comes into my top 50 favorites.
