I've always been BAFFLED by countries that are always shouting about FREEEEEDOOOOOMMMM!!! as though it's a motto, but then resitrict what you can and cannot do with your body in general. That's saying you don't OWN your body, that it's public property that you must get special permission to modify. Not just plastic surgery, but in general.

Like all things, there's a good side and a bad side.
If someone is genuinely disfigured or scarred from an accident of some sort, than plastic surgery could greatly increase their quality of life (after all, how you look makes much more of a difference than most people like to believe).
But I can't understand why people would go under the knife because they don't fit their ideal for beauty. I once saw a woman on Oprah talking about how she wanted Michael Jackson's nose! But it's not like I'd hold that against someone, I just wouldn't understand it.

I wish people didnt put so much worth into exterior beauty, but since that is the case, I dont blame people who turn to plastic surgery. Self esteem is very important and even though it can be dangerous health wise, plastic surgery is a personal choice and I'm not going to tell anyone that they should or should not do it.

Plastic surgery is especially ok in cases like breast cancer patients who had to lose one or both of their breats. Or kids who get attacked by dogs. 🙁

Reconstructive surgery is important, you won't know when you may need it. However, plastic surgery is freaky in general.

I totally endorse surgeries like this. (Removal of excess skin after weight loss)
I'd also say a liposuction during the process would also be good because of how fat cells work. (you can create new cells but when you loss fat you're just starving the cells not eliminating them, which causes you to be hungry... really, really hungry)

I'm pretty open to anything as long as it's not in excess... or it messes with how your face looks (except for the aforementioned removal of excess skin).

From a psychological standpoint, it suggests some of the worst aspects of human nature (its commonplace in the sickening world of celebrities/"idols" is no surprise).

Quote for Truth
I very much think of it like that was well, but I have given up complaining about the media (this includes celebrities and idols). You can't stop millions of people from wanting to be like them. Some people's lives are just so dull they have to seek refuge in things like celebrity gossip. I for one have accepted it and will let those people do what they want.

I once knew a guy who was born a little deformed, let's say.
He was perfectly intelligent but he just spoke a little funny and he didn't look "normal".
One summer he came back and his face had completely changed. Whether it was for an actual surgery he needed or just to help him be look normal, I didn't know but I for one thought that he looked "better" without getting anything done.

Maybe it was because I was used to him looking the way he did and the new him was just a little awkward for me.

I'm in between "if they really need it" and "let them do what they want".

Some people need it because their face doesn't function correctly so they need it fixed.
Some people also need it not for function but more for confidence. Maybe they need that boost so that they don't end up hurting themselves.

I don't really like it.
It's like cheating.
Your kids will still be ugly.

Yeah, I don't care what people decide to do to their body. Unless it's someone I'm connected to, like very dear friends or family. I'll urged them not to if it's to be done only for cosmetic reasons, but ultimately it's their decision.
