hi everyone, i have a quick q on buying nintendo in tokyo. i want to buy a nintendo ds lite when i'm in tokyo, but i was wondering, maybe quite stupidly, if it will be in, well, japanese or it will solely depend on the game i put in. also, if i buy the games in japan, will they, in fact, be in japanese? or is it the same game all over the world? and if they are in fact different, where can i buy english games?
sorry if this is too stupid 🤢

Games have different languages depending on what version you buy. If you buy a game in Japan, it's probably going to be in Japanese. I suppose some store in Akihabara might have English games, but I can't say I remember any, you may have to wait until you get back, or order online if you want them.

Anyway, it's regionless, a Japanese DS will play English games and vice versa. I purchased mine in Tokyo so I can guarantee that much.

Does that answer your question?

edit: I forgot to mention that the device itself has a language setting for the basic programs and options (the menus and the like, not the games). If you buy a Japanese one you'll have to switch it to english, I'd have to actually go get mine and look to remember how it's done, but it's not terribly difficult.

Generally speaking, if the label on the game is in Japanese, it's in Japanese. Just use common sense, you'll be able to tell what's english and what's not.

I'm sorry, I can't think of any, but the time I've spent in Tokyo is somewhat limited.

Good luck with it.
