I'm sorry if that was reported earlier, but since yesterday I can't see the * next to the titles that were edited in the last 24h.

Is it possible to have someone bulk update all the "Status in Country of Origin" fields in the database to prepend a backslash before all of the tilde characters where one doesn't already exist? With the markdown change it's causing a lot of text in that field to be shown as struckout. I've fixed a few manually already but realized it's widespread enough that it probably makes sense to just do it in bulk on the database side.

Just wanted to bump aonagare's post up again. This is a pretty pervasive issue and I agree creating a script would be the simplest solution. Thanks.

On "My Lists" there is a small bug with the dates when the display language of the browser is not English. Here is how the dates are shown:

  • English: Oct 21st, 2024
  • Portuguese (BR): 21 de out. de 202th4
  • Spanish (ES): 21 oct 202th4

This doesn't seem to happen on any other page, only on the lists.

Also, I'm currently unable to give any rating with decimals (either with . or ,). The field doesn't allow me to type it.

However, I can still force it by calling the API directly.

Both were tested on Firefox (131.0.3) and Chrome (129.0.6668.101).

I just did this. Let me know if it's okay.

Both items should now be resolved.

I have a question regarding filtering on advanced search. When i try to use "only show manga not on any of my lists" it doesnt work, i still have many from my lists. Since there is also a limit of how many pages i can see, a good 99% are already on list. I enjoy updating series that havent been updated in a while (which is why i have them on list to know i have updated them) i cannot do so since it shows ones i have alrrady on a list. This has been a problem since i joined, but now that i have updated more, i dont see new ones.

Hi Pineapple, it is limited to 20k items. If you have more than 20k items on your lists, it will no longer work.

Just out of curiosity, do you have more than 20k items? If not, it could be a bug.

For everyone having issues with the lists feature, I've modified it so loading the list will now immediately show data and not show the spinning wheel. Please let me know if you have any other issues, or if something isn't working right.

Also, the newupdate broke my cover preview app and I think the developer stoped working on it, so that hurts a lot, honestly I almost considered a part of Bakupdates by now with how useful it was to quickly remind myself about stuff I might not recognize by name.

Could a native "hover to preview cover" function, or similar, ever be added to Bakaupdates lists so that you can check in stuff that has titles you just can't recall or aren't sure about?

Can you let me know what pages had the cover preview? We could probably do it now.

Also, perhaps a screenshot, or a link to the plugin?

The cover preview would work on the main release page, and would happen any time you hovered over a title, assuming the cover was in whatever database it pulled from.

Here is a link to the thread from a couple of years ago when it broke the last time the backend of the website was updated:

Probably. I wouldnt be surprised as i have most of 2015-2024 as well as other years, but if i try to search and go by year, page 200 is around 2015 even with filters of genre.

I dont even read manga too much, i just couldnt stand how many werent updated.

Edit Just calculated the totals on lists... over 50k Would having the abilitiy to filter by unwanted tags be possible? Or even last updated?

Well, you turned on server-side rendering, and that broke everything for me. Previously the auto-refreshing was messing things up, but it sounds like that is getting turned off, but now the server-side-rendering permanently breaks any userscript that updates the page:

Uncaught Error: Minified React error #418; visit https://react.dev/errors/418 for the full message or use the non-minified dev environment for full errors and additional helpful warnings.

The gist of that page is:

Hydration failed because the server rendered HTML didn't match the client. As a result this tree will be regenerated on the client.

If I try to run any script on the page (such as the previously mentioned re-alphabetizing but ignoring articles), this error fires and my script's changes are reverted.

Previously, you said:

I'm willing to work with you in order to ease any sort of transition.

OK. I feel like you're alphabetizing wrong. Please let me run a tampermonkey userscript and alphabetize things the way I like.

Also, I put little stars next to comics on my reading list that have a new update since the last time I've refreshed the page. Because I have a LOT of things on my reading list, but I don't read all of them every day, and would like to quickly see what's newly available.

(Previously these stars were disappearing on the new site even when I didn't refresh, which was annoying). This is now impossible, as when the star is added to the page, the page reverts to vanilla, due to SSR.

As far as I know, React doesn't provide an event for when hydration completes, so I have no way of knowing inside my userscript when it's safe to update the page or not. I can put a delay, but it is impossible to know for SURE if I've waited long enough.

So in summary, the old site was VERY FRIENDLY to userscripts. Pages loaded statically, and important elements had ids. There was no need to wait for elements, because the page loaded all at once instead of the dynamic system you have now (which, sometimes the reading list will just fail to load for some reason, and no good indication as to why; that never happened on the old site), and only one element could have a given id, so you always knew your script was accessing the right spot.

The new site is ACTIVELY HOSTILE to userscripts, for the above mentioned reasons, and now the server side hydration.

This is definitely an edge case. The vast majority of users aren't running userscripts of any kind. I get that. It's just very very frustrating to suddenly lose the functionality that I had on the old site.

Safari 18 on iOS/iPadOS and MacOS.

Also Brave v1.70.123 (Chromium v129) on MacOS.

When viewing the page history and showing the description history. I think for more focus and less strain on the eyes, if it could go back as viewing how it's shown on the public description. In the admin viewing it shows all the links fully type out with codes and it's hard to tell the links apart incase if someone messes with them.

Also the color codes don't work anymore
