my friend Kris recomended one day to try some doujinshi because she said it was good and i had never actually seen one. so i went to a japanese bookstore and flipped through a few to see what she was talking about. what i found was that the whole bloody thing was women with astronomical jugs that could squash a person!! 😲 ....so i ran away.

so i have a question: are all doujinshi porn or yaoi??

I would think that all doujinshi would not necessarily have that stuff... Doujinshi just means a fan created work... something unofficial. There's nothing in the definition that it says it has to be that. Honestly though I've never read a doujin, so I can't really comment. 😐

Like Manick said, there's lots of different genres to the doujinshi-branch. It's just a fan-created work featuring characters from manga, anime, what-have-you (so basically it's that author's take on characters from a show he/she didn't create). What you were looking at were the infamous hentai doujinshi with the 120%-breast-bonus.

I have to admit that I do believe about 75% of the doujinshi's found are in fact hentai/porn or yaoi/shounen-ai. There's a small percentage of gag and drama, though. Doujinshi means 'amateur manga' and sometimes they do actually feature the author's original characters (though these are few and far between)..

It probably helps if you knew the original work the doujinshi is from? 😀

Depending on the series, you can have a lot of gag/comedy type doujinshi. However, as an avid collector, I mainly find doujinshi that have some kind of pairing. Not all of these pairings include NC-17 action, of course, but there is a lot of that sort out there. Admittedly, it is harder to find "soft-core" doujinshi, but it does exist. Usually the doujinshi will say something like R18 or For Adults Only if it's the heavy stuff. Cover art also helps if you want sex without huge boobs and futanari.

Yeah, not all Doujin's are hentai. They're are normal ones, too. Genshiken proved that to me, lol.

Well example wise xD one doujinshi I found was about Haruhi suzumiya and Pheonix Wright, and how they were going against each other using 'the pointing finger' pose. Most of the non-hentai doujinshis I've read are usually 'what-if' or alternate stories of an actual manga/anime. But it IS a fact that more 'original' doujins are born from the 'H' side :3

CLAMP (Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHOLiC, Tsubasa, and tons more) started as doujinshi artists and look at where they are today.

I'm told that some on Akamatsu-sensei's staff produce hentai doujinshi for Love Hina or Negima! and that the stuff looks very much like the original manga as far as art goes.

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki creator Kajishima-sensei uses the doujinshi format a lot and has done so for years. This way, without the limitations of an official publication, he can do all sorts of things from publishing early drafts of scripts, giving interviews, publishing storyboards for the anime (especially unused storyboards), discussing the creation of the anime, providing additional information on characters and situations in the anime, and finally to give news on his current projects. Most are non-hentai (though some have ecchi content), but he did create one hentai TM!R story. ^_^;;;;

well, alot of doujinshi is about pairings fans wish would happen, so much of doujinshi is the pairings together in a sexual way. but some with pairings is "pure " love. and some are just things they wish would happen in a series. the rest is just random stories that have nothing to do with anything.
