I don't know if Mavis strategy is very good at the beginning. Yes, the opponents get dwindle down while you reserve your strength. But that is also a lost opportunity to score easy points against easy opponent. The 9 points from Quatro Cerberus is certainly easier to get than from say Lamia Scale. If for Mavis's strategy to be effective, they should have wait more until stronger opponents ran into each other. They probably won't be taken out right away but would be heavily injured. Even if a person manage to win, they probably won't come out of all fine and dandy. After that, Fairy Tail can 2 to 3 up on everybody.
