something about reverse harems

I've read a few and it seems the heroine often chooses the most "normal" guy even though she's surrounded by a whole bunch of beautiful unusual boys. I wonder if it's really a trend (something contemporary?) or just a coincidence that I came across this type of plot.
I mean, isn't it supposed to be an unrealistic romantic fantasy?

Have you read Ouran High School Host Club? XD I think that 4/5 of them are pretty unusual...
But I guess the heroine wants a stable relationship... you know... a girl's dream of sharing her life with someone who is responsible? I dunno!!

Some times the girl chooses the not-so-normal guy. In that case you'll get lots and lots of chapters of the two of them overcoming their differences and societies judgement.
possibility: Then the girl will end up crying while being comforted by the normal guy who steals her away....
Or, the weird guy turns out to be very normal deep downside.
It still is an unrealistic romantic fantasy. Because no guy is average in a shoujo romance.

Yes, I have, and I actually thought the whole shoujo was like that back then. It was my first shoujo manga. The princely hero and everything.

hmh i don't like reverse harem...
because most of the girl is just an ordinary girl, so how could the harem happen? 🤢
