Need Help Problems with a PS3

Hi, so here's my problem. I have had a PS3 for about a little over a year now. I got the 80gb one that can play PS2 games as well. I never had any problems with it so far or anything. Except before my problem I noticed that the video settings kept reverting back and I would lose my wallpaper, but that wasn't my problem it was annoying, but anyways my problem is that my system like freezes or something on me all the time. The day it happened I put Persona 3: FES in and I was waiting for it to load and I failed to notice that someone had changed what system gets displayed(I have this little thing that switches between, PS3, Wii, 360) so cause I didn't notice it I flicked the switch on the back of the PS3 and turned it off. Well now when I load it up the thing that spins in the top right hand corner before it displays some news just stops in place shortly after I turn it on, under the game tab is just spinning circles that just spin endlessly on end, if I try to go into a setting option the system freezes and nothing loads, I tried putting in a game and nothing happens and when I just straight turn off the system well it doesn't turn off. It looks like it's going to and then before it turns off the green light beeps and then just kinda flickers and the red light comes on. I don't know if this will make a difference, but before this happened I updated my PS3 to the latest patch. Anyone know what's wrong or had had a similar problem?

I've never had that happen to me.
It's best you call customer support.... but before that, try removing your hard drive and putting it back in.

Well turning off a PS3 in that manner is kinda damaging. Maybe the system is just overheated? Same thing happened to me, and I would have suggested you to reset the system settings but apparently your screen freezes.
As the others have said, try calling Sony.

Your whole system dies on you? Or it is just not loading the blu-ray/dvd/cd? Like LunaMay suggested, try to reset the system (save your files beforehand!).
