But for one specific bad guy I'd have to say: "Kira" from Death Note. Not Light Yagami b/c technically "Light" is this stand-up guy who puts justice before everything else. It isn't until he gets a hold of the Death Note that he truly becomes "Kira".

There's been more purely evil people than Griffith in Berserk.. like the hardline religious witch-hunter torturer guy. Some of the stuff he did to people stuck in my head for days the first time I read it, and almost made me throw up every time, especially as half of it was based on history...

Oh, and Tikki Mikk from D. Gray-Man was doing pretty well at one point..
