So itachi's sai's master? (refers to the way the fire is drawn, not to be taken literally...)

Amaterasu looks a lot like sai's ink art...I dunno, it just doesn't look as cool as I thought it'd be...Anyways, sasuke had the upper hand since itachi's practically blind now and tired, so it all comes down to a fireball contest...reminds me of dragonball's kamehameha showdowns...

i doubt sai and itachi are involved at all, it's just kishimoto drew them both. but it sure was nice to see some actual ninjutsu, it'd been far too long

and as a side not, i dont really think spoiler tags about stuff about chapter 389 are really necessary in a thread clearly marked to be about chapter 389, <-- my two cents

it seems to me that kishimoto is overpowering sasuke. sure he has gotten stronger than before but he is against itachi with mangekyou sharingan. if itachi loses, that would make the mangekyou, a somewhat ultimate/secret technique for uchihas pointless.

and isn't amaterasu the same flame he used when he was inside jiraiya's frog? if so, i expect sasuke to lose here and that other akatsuki guy said that the flame won't stop until the target is vanquished.

I think amaterasu won't have any effect on Sasuke, or at least it won't kill him.

The reason is that Sasuke is fire element, and as we saw in this chapter, his fire is more powerful than Itachi's. It would be weird if a fire based attack could actually do too much harm to one top class fire ninja.

Also, as they already said, an expert with a rock can beat a rocky with a shurinken. Even if Itachi has a more powerful weapon, Sasuke is stronger than him; and if he already defeated the genjuntsu part of the mangekyo, he can also beat the ninjutsu part.

I'm expecting an awesome ultimate technique from Sasuke, aether a fire-electric combo attack, or a black chidori.

the fire won't kill him but will defeat him. yes, sasuke is fire element but amaterasu is a different fire. remember the frog episode where jiraiya said the stomach was capable of holding any type of fire yet destroyed by the black fire which was amaterasu. and what's the point of it being an ultimate fire technique if it's not going to have any effect or won't destory/defeat it's target.

also, how is sasuke stronger than itachi? sure he defeated tsukuyomi but doesn't exactly mean he's stronger.

The thing with the "ultimate techniques" is that there is always a more ultimate technique. The real ultimate technique is not shown until the end of the manga. Mangaka introduce new ultimate techniques all the time.

He defeated his genjutsu even when Itachi has a more evolved sharingan, and his fire ball was stronger, they both used exactly the same technique and Sasuke won.

Itachi is basically depending of the mangekyo sharingan to win the fight, and even when he has this advantage, he already had to pull out his "ultimate technique" before Sasuke.

I would ask you, What makes you think that Sasuke is not more powerful than Itachi?

I think the white side of Zetsu specifically said on a few occasions that Sasuke is stronger/better than Itachi...
I am wondering if Itachi's Ameterasu will do the trick, but seeing as Itachi is already half blind and injured too, I doubt it. Maybe Kisame will join the fight (he is always hanging around Itachi). Anyway Sasuke hasn't used the complete transformation of the cursed seal yet, nor has he used the jutsu Orochimaru stopped him from using on Naruto and the gang.
I think that the reason why Sasuke defeated Mangekyo Sharingan was very lame... its another story if Sasuke somehow improved his Sharingan but just "its my way of the ninja/i hate you so i automatically get to counter your jutsu" was very very dumb. Now Itachi is made out to look like a weakling in front of uber sasuke.

And anyway how in hell will the black fire burn Sasuke to a crisp when Itachi needs Sasukes eyes 😕

I'd just like to point out that Sasuke's level 1 seal release look a hell of a lot like those black flames, and his level 2 release looks decidedly like a demon straight from hell, where these flames supposedly come from. I wouldn't be the least suprised if Kishi makes Sasuke at level 2 all but immune to the black flames. Also, even if Sasuka has never seen Amaterasu he obviously knew something about it form the Uchiha secret history he read and very well may have developed something in attempt to counter it.

Yes, he is. So I don't think that he'll be able to help Itachi.
