By the Westerner's perspective on anime, the default answer would be cats because of catgirls. Personally I don't care if there are animals or animal people in manga, just as long as they're not uncomfortably distracting.

I find that the 18+ warnings on nonhentai manga to be retarded. If it contains violence or ecchi it doesn't deserve an 18+ rating, that same stuff would be found in most PG-13 movies in the us. i could see a 16+ or 'Older Teen (OT)' rating, just not a 18+ rating if it isnt porn.

Wow, people have been perverted much earlier than I anticipated. Is it just me that believes ecchi, hentai, and 99.7% of smut is disgusting? I feel so alone.

I wish I voted on that, but I would have been with the top votes anyway.

It's really weird, I read less appropriate things (yeah, I might have dabbled in some yaoi, what of it?) when I was underage, but now that I am 18 (and maybe in my 17th year of life) I have found that i have been wanting to avoid those kinds of manga and stick to stuff more... all age or most age appropriate? =D It's very backwards.

Haha the same!! I guess it was curiosity that made me try Yaoi at first... but now I really do prefer things with more thoughtful plots than the ones present in yaoi xD

I also think ecchi (pointless and annoying), hentai disgusting (and aimed for guys only), and smut uninteresting (usually portrayed very boringly). xD I think ppl try 18+ things when they're younger just because of curiosity, and the thrill to know you're doing something you're not supposed to... /shrugs. It doesn't necessarily mean ppl still read those things afterwards 😛 unfortunately it is true there is a trend of earlier and earlier maturation age for children though -- probably influenced by all the easily accessible 18+ things in the media/internet around them 😛

I was rather young when i started reading/watching 18+ stuff, hehe feels kinda nice being of age (just barely) now and still doing so :3
