Well, for the purpose of the debate of triangles vs rectangles, no, they don't. 😅
If you absolutely never make sandwiches with sliced bread, only rolls or buns, then you could either select "I don't cut my sandwiches" or "other" depending on which one applies to you.
As for me, I wrote this question because I've seen people have surprisingly strong opinions about it before for both sides (almost as much as asking if a hot dog is a sandwich), but personally for me it absolutely has to be triangles, I can't even imagine any benefit to rectangles. The corner gives you a good natural starting point to eat from, so you don't have to awkwardly bite into a side.

All my sandwiches are made of squareish pre-cut loaves bread, which I don't really cut, or baguette, which I cut diagonally in the middleish, or normal ball bread, which is ovalish?
Please do a toilet paper orientation poll next. That's srsbzns.

I just do a full slice of bread as i like crust... so cutting it into triangles is not something i would do

I don't cut my sandwiches unless I want to share them with someone, so I'm curious why people cut theirs. is it like a portion thing or??

I'll typically cut a sandwich diagonally, weather it be on a baguette, or on two slices of bread.
However, if I'm making a PB&J, that's the one exception when I'll cut into rectangles. Not sure why, it just feels right for some reason.
Oh, and if I'm making a sandwich on a bagel, it's getting sliced right down the middle. Not much of any other way to cut a bagel, really.

It just makes it easier and neater to eat. Depending on the kind of bread and fillings, an unsliced sandwich can end up being messier or more awkward to eat, with fillings falling out or getting on your face or hands.
Cutting mine diagonally into 2 triangles just gives me a much neater place to start from with the sharp corners, and since one of the edges I'm starting from is actually the center of the sandwich instead of from the outside, it has a better distribution of fillings and I can eat more from the center out rather than the outside in.
You can get a similar result cutting it in half into rectangles I suppose, but I think a diagonal cut/triangles do a better job of it.
It's interesting to see how few people here seem to actually cut their sandwiches/have much of an opinion on it, I guess it's a demographics/region thing? I've seen some fierce debates over triangles vs rectangles in other places.

I use this bread that has long slices, and I split one in half to prepare my sandwiches. So, rectangle-square?

oh huh :0c thanks for sharing. the mess thing makes sense, but the filling part is interesting to me as someone who prefers eating mine from the outside in. and I think it's definitely a regional thing. I've only ever seen sandwich shape opinions online and even then it's in passing as opposed to a whole debate.
