Did gantz really speak in l33t talk in the mangas or has the scanlators put that in themselves. I really don't like it. It makes it that much harder to reader and puts me off the plot. Hope someone can clear this up.

It wasn't a bunch of mixed case lettering but like:

"Your lives have ended" - with all the s and e's backwards.
Then there was l33t speak and then it went to normal. I just find it a bit odd to be jumping between it.

I think it was just to give the impression that they were taking part in a game and GantZ was the player using them as character's, it sorta gave me the impression that he is one those arrogant pricks you meet on CS or halo you know the kind always scream out (or type out i suppose) NOOB in the middle of a match.....

Actually, the actual Japanese translation is with the e's and the s's backwards. Scanlators gave it their special touch when creating it's leet speech.
