Butterflies and moths ._.
They scare me to no end. If one even come close to me, I'd feel kinda sick inside o_o

Guess it was cuz a few years ago, in the dark this moth like attacked my feet. Scared the shit out of me cuz I didn't know what it was till my friend killed it. Still scared of it, the wings actually scare me the most 😲

Been made fun of my fear so many times 🤢

Every single kind of insect that exists. I have an irrational fear of them. Even if I see a really tiny little fly or ladybug, I will run away. I once saw a spider in my house and just stood there for about 10 minutes with a rolled up newspaper in my hands just staring at it from a distance. Then, I chickened out. lol

I also don't like birds and reptiles. I'm not afraid of them or anything, but I just don't like them.

Oh I understand what you mean! My friends even locked me in a butterfly house one time just because they know I was afraid of them. I've even had nightmares about butterflies... =_= But the wings scare me the most as well. 😔

Anything within a distance that can kill me with a bite? 🤣

I do have this fear of bees (childhood trauma thingie)
so I really don't like when they fly near me...

reads some of the comments

Any living being that's in the state of aggression will cause fear,
but if they're not attacking me, I don't see a reason to be scared.
Especially with dogs.
The bigger they are the more I want to cuddle with them.

I guess roaches creep some people out...
But I used to abduct them by the feelers when I was little.
Then I was told it was unsanitary, so I moved to shoe -> paper napkin.

I don't understand the fear of butterflies though.
In all honesty, what can possibly scare you about such a harmless bug?
And moths can be lovely. I keep a framed Atlas moth on my desk.

All birds, though I've touched an owl before.

Anyone here actually gets scared by a picture of an animal they fear? I can't even look at or touch pictures of birds and my friends seem to think it's such an irrational behaviour...

And for dogs i also have a childhood story:

once upon a time cute little 4-years-old shadowsakura-chan went on a walk with her grandma. Suddenly a giant dog appears and uses tackle. shadowsakura-chan feels on the ground and the dog licks her face with his giant tongue.

since them i´m afriad of huge dogs.
And i became more after i read Cujo

Sharks. 🤢

Big human-eating sharks, not those tiny ones.

Snake!!!

I remembered, there was an exhibition at my college and they got the big snake with yellow spot. I was just walking by, and then the snake tamer, signaled me to touch the snake. I took one look at the snake, and freaked out then without realizing I just ran as fast as I could out of the place. That was really scary. 🤢

Am I the only one who thought that crab looked like it could turn into one heck of a meal? Imagine how much crab meat you could get out of that.

Quote from true_grave_unit

I don't know if I'd say that I'm flat out scared of any animal, but there are definitely animals that i wouldn't want to piss off like a grizzly bear, venomous snake, or wild cat (or in other words, any animal that can easily kill me or kick my ass.)

This is similar to my way of thinking. It's the fact that they can kill me which is scary, not the actual animal itself.

Err, everything that kept my ancestors alive? I mean, I only get the shock from seeing something fearful, on which I react accordingly. So everything my body naturally responds to. (So no Darwin awards for me!)

Snakes for instance. I got a shock when I saw one - while it was a cute grass snake, from about 20 cm (7.8") long... And that while in the zoo my boyfriend gets cranky from how long I stay watching the snakes (once about 45 minutes: a boa constrictor was actually moving!) - I love them behind the glass.

Or spiders perhaps, I think they're cute, I'd even name them and let them be if they are <2 cm (about <0.8"). But last time I saw a huge spider: thick, hairy and about 6 cm (2.4"!!) and I even screamed! Afterwards I put a glass over it, shoved a piece of paper under it, and released it outside.

I do have rational fear though: I keep my distance from horses, cows and other large animals, especially when they have calves or foals or whatever. I know such animal is protective and can crush me with ease, and I prefer myself un-crushed...

Oh - actually I do remind an irrational fear: birds. Not one bird or something, but swarms of them. I find their claws and peckers very unsettling. And that even before watching the famous Hitchcock =/
