The one thread that would pull me out of the woodwork has done just that. I am quite happy that there hasn't been as much microsoft bashing as I thought there would be. I say this because going multiplatform with a game like this gives more people a chance to play it, and more people to play it equals more money for Square-Enix.

SCEA President and CEO, Jack Tretton, wasn't too happy about this either and more on this can be read here

At the end of the story above Tretton goes on to say this little tidbit about what he thinks is going to happen in the future with third party games:

I think that it's safe to say that FFXIII will have multiply discs mainly because well they are going from Blu-ray to DVD and it takes roughly 3 duel layered DVDs to match 1 single layered Blu-ray disc. So yea there will be multiply discs and really why should it matter whether there are multiply discs or not. The majority of people that will play this on the 360 are the ones that enjoyed Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon and they don't really care how many discs they come on. Actually the one thing that bothers me about multiply discs is the packaging. Microsoft really messed up the NA packaging of Lost Odyssey by placing the fourth disc in a sleave inside the package; while the Japanese packaging had a really nice 4 disc double wide case which can be seen here.

Also thought that I might point out that Square-Enix won't start working on the Xbox 360 version until they are done with the PS3 version. So basically Xbox owners are getting a port of the PS3 version.

Its funny people act surprised when they see this but this is the business, Sony wooed SE from Nintendo even breaking a contract to do it. What's the big surprise that SE would except wooing from Micro-soft? Would any of you say no to being made an offer in dollar figures to have something you made put on another system when you've already done it before?

Producing games on the PS3 is expensive and I've heard that FFXIII has had trouble with the PS3 Dev kits as-well as many other games, delays and having to up man power costs money so why wouldn't they take every advantage to make money when its costing them more to make the product?

Also it should be known that both versions will be released Simultaneously in NA.

meh, crystal tools was developed to be multiplatform engine, so regardless of if they had made the decision, it wouldnt have pushed the ps3 to its limits.

I admit, when I first saw this I got a little freaked because I thought the quality would suffer for the PS3. However, now that I've read more about it, this really isn't that big a deal. From what I see, it isn't going to harm the quality of the game on the PS3, which is a plus for Sony. On the other hand, you got to wonder whether or not FFXIII would have pushed PS3 to its limit. My initial diagnosis, no. So, now XBOX has FFXIII, but not Versus. This is a win for Microsoft. But then again, they were kind of in need of a win when the movie industry started backing the Blu-Ray disc and not the HD-DVD. So, even if XBOX completely nulls the exclusivity line and makes better games (which is really a matter of tastes), PS3 can still lean on the fact that they have the movie industry's backing, and it is still technically the more powerful system. Plus, as the Blu-Ray gets more use, it'll become cheaper, and then everyone will be happy. I think it's safe to say that no one is going to blow anyone else out of the water in this console battle.

I'm positive that thing is a fake. There's no way that someone is actually that much of a loser. He probably just took the opportunity to make fun of the fan boys who were freaking over this news.

No No, there are losers like that. If you ever dorm at college, more than likely you will come across a kid that never leaves his room only to go to classes. Nothing more. No showers, no eating (except the mountain of junk food in his room), just video games.

it's all about money. I think square enix looks at how gta4 sales did @ beating records being on multiplatform and thought might as well double our numbers by releasing it on xbox 360 too.

Also according to VGCharts.com GTA4 sold more on Xbox 360 than the PS3. Im not saying that FF13 will do the same but there is a chance that it might.
