Fountain Pen
BaeSooky's topic about Pen or pencil? reminded me of my beloved fountain pen... which broke 🙁 .
I ought be studying for a final in a few days.... therefore time for a new thread!
I wanted to know the MU community's opinion on fountain pens. Do you use them? Do you find them difficult to use? What kind (make) do you use/would you like to use? Are they completely unnecessary and impractical? etc.

I have no idea what the brand of it is, but I use an old fountain pen that my parents had for calligraphy art (or just to feel fancy).
I have never tried using one to write with instead of an ordinary pen or pencil, but it might be fun to try sometime.
opinion on fountain pens
it's fun to use.especially when you write cursive.but like melon said, some leak ink all over your hand.
Ah yes, how could I forget ink on my fingers... still I really liked how it wrote (surprisingly very smoothly)...
I'm looking for a new one now.... perhaps a new(ish) Parker Facet, or a less new Sonnet... but there's always the classic Duofold --- I'm partial to the Parker brand (my old pen was a 51-copy). I can't find any new 51 reissues anymore 🙁

Do you use them? Yes, occasionally.
Do you find them difficult to use? Not at all.
What kind (make) do you use/would you like to use? I don't remember all of the brands that I've owned, but I believe I currently have Sheaffer, Waterman, and Montblanc pens.
Are they completely unnecessary and impractical? etc. Not at all. If one feels more comfortable using it, why would it be deemed impractical? Also, the result is much nicer than a regular pen, so it's perfect for special items.

I grew up using the fountain pen, which was very messy because I'm a left-hander. But now, since I'm in a different country, I use the ball-point pen (which I prefer).
i always used fointain pens in my life. even in grade school i got fointain pen (and plus my handwriting is very bad with pens and okey with pensils).
after all this years, all my friends, my family are still saying thing and actually helps me find some inks for me (fointain indian by pelikan is one hard ink to find here).
Trust me, I am an engineer.
I like them for sure, but they can be right bitches to use.
For example, the ink exploding (it's happened to me before-went everywhere 🤣 ), the nib snapping and therefore rendering the pen useless, the fraglie state of the whole pen-once one of mine actually fell apart 🤣
I have a range of makes. Some Parkers (one which I never use. I gave it to my sister) and some just have no make.
I just use plain ballpoint pens nowadays, or the ballpoint ink Parker pens which refill. I write fast, and my fountain pens can't keep up with me and actually stop working for a while....
