So, this has really been bugging me since I'm more of a "I read what I can get" person when talking about manga, and since I don't really understand it, collecting some more info isn't bad at all 🤣

So what about specific ones (yes I have seen a lot of requests lately) how do they work? I think something is lost if you know what you are reading will certainly have certain specific situation/character/etc. so is the crave strong enough (and the consequent satisfaction) to overcome that?

So far I only sometimes feel like reading a really good seinen, but that is all, nothing more than certain demographic, and that isn't really specific at all. How does it work for you?

After some 3000 or so different manga and anime, I've come to the point where I know what I like. And while I will often read manga outside of my favorite genres its mainly because I can't find more of what I like, or rather I can't find good mangas of the types I like. I'm a real fan of romantic comedies but a lot of times they're done so poorly, have a horrible main character or a bad ending or all of the above, that I finish all of the good ones and end up looking elsewhere. So yeah I have cravings for a certain type of manga, but they're rarely satisfied so I take what i can get .

I only get manga craves when there's nothing else to read. I've made threads requesting for very specific criteria, but I had nothing better to read. 🤣

The crave is strong enough! With me, I get them when I read something really good and wonder if that can be found elsewhere..so I go crazy about it. XD

Yeah I got them << I'll be itching to read mangas in around 3 days without them .__.; be it any demographics. Though I'll be bored after like 3-4 chp if the manga doesn't suit my taste.
Ah, but it's hard to find the certain types I really like but when I do, that will get an instant 9-10 from me 😀

Yeah I was thinking this myself. I mean, when people request things like "Main character death", I'm kinda like, well...you know the main character's gonna die... Isn't that just ruining the plot twist of the story?

Not really...I don't go out of my way to look for something specific. Just browsing around the release page until something catches my interest.

I have done that before. In very specific ways too. Like that one day I had a huge craving for a manga where one of the characters can change into an animal.
I don't think I'd ever crave something that would spoil the story for me, but sometimes I just want one that involves certain things.

Sometimes I'll want to read a certain genre/demographic that I don't normally read. That usually ends in me picking up a shoujo and dropping it after 10 chapters or less, wondering why I didn't remember the reason I don't normally read those. XD

Most of the time though, I just read whatever I come across/have been meaning to read that sounds interesting.

I get manga craves all the time. For instance, I'll be sitting in class and BAM suddenly I want to reread a manga I haven't thought about in years. Or I'll want to read a specific genre of manga or a bunch of a specific author's works.

So, yeah, they just pop up randomly.

I sometimes get those, like when I've been reading novels for a long time(a few hrs)I suddenly get the urge to read my fav manga. Incidentally, this always happens when there are no manga around.

I'm like you Tsu, I read what I can get to.
I'm not specific with what kinds of manga I want to read since I read different types of manga and easily enjoy them. Sometimes with demographics, but never anything specific like...a sci-fi seinen with a powerful hero and an equally powerful heroine. lol I don't know how people suddenly get such specific urges...I just read whatever I get my hands on.

i sometime read up on what my favorite Idols put down as their fav manga
and try it out
like
Anno Haruna made me try Homunculus
and
Yuka Kuramoti made me try Baki
but i never get specific craves

I seem to be an addict. OH, but my addiction has gotten a lot better recently. I can finish my homework at 3 AM EVERYDAY~
