Seriously how many animes out there are actually not based of any of the above? I know there are some but 99% of all anime are based off them. I cant even name a orignal anime off the top of my head.

Yes you may find out that some series got a manga but those case after so those mangas are based on the anime ^^

Samurai 7 is losely based on the movie, yes. Same with Gankutsuou...I think our OP wants original concepts, where it's not manga -> anime, game -> anime, novel-> anime or anything -> anime... 😎

To OP; I'd say it's about 80% of anime stuff that's based on other stuff instead of 99% as you are saying. That's a given...it's hard to make up something new and make it a hit while on the other hand it's not that hard to take a famous novel, game, manga and make it to an anime and make it a hit...since you know there's a fanbase already existing. 😉

yer it is and it's called seven samurai which inspired the magnificent 7.
samurai 7 is different, it's a steam punk and as historical as you would think. it has brilliant animation (well it couldn't be bad considering the budget they had for each episode.)
