Medaka Box Ends This Week
This year's combined 22nd/23rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is running the "grand finale" of NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki's Medaka Box manga on Saturday. The previous issue had teased that the manga might be reaching a climax in the coming issue's 23-page chapter. Both NisiOisin and Akatsuki expressed their appreciation and thanks to all the fans for following the manga to its end.

It finally ended! I have to say it's a pretty bad ending though....everyone lost their powers? Anshinsan is still alive? She has the suggestion box? Nothing makes sense. After the flask plan arc, everything became pretty transcendental. No one understood anything and now it just ends.

I was actually pretty satisfied with the way it ended...Zenkichi and Medaka started the manga facing-off each other and ended it the same way!
Losing their powers was symbolic as to how they had grown up...how they had parted from their adolescent creativity and entered the world of adults. 😮
And if your talkin about sense...well I never found Medaka Box to have ever been one of those that made a lot of sense...it always had this "no-string-attached" feel to it, never overly dramatic 🙂

I really liked the ending (don't like that it ended though). The entire chapter I was just waiting for that last scene and hoping it would come in some form.
It is fitting that it ended in Zenkichi being dragged into another completely insane idea by Medaka and them finally fighting it out the proper way. I loved the touch of them both wagering the same thing on the fight and Zenkichi's reaction. No one knowing whee Kumagawa is might be setting up for true spin-off work (not just a chapter and and some LN's from before the manga started) but it is more likely just that such an ending fit his character. He showed up out of the blue and continued to do so when things looked their worst so it is fitting that no one knows where he is and one day he will simply just show up again.

True...it broke the fourth wall a few times. And i always thought it was zenkichi loved medaka from the start to the end. His rejection was just because he never thought he was enough to match medaka's awesomeness.

So in the end Zenkichi ends up as the strongest student council member.
