I think they should be able to get married just like the rest of us. I'm American and in America everyone is supposed to have equal rights. Of course for a country that has seperation of church and state religion has way more influence than it should. With groups like the Catholics spitting out crap like gays are more prone to pedophilia it's no wonder that we are such a hypocritical country. I think people of the same sex should be able to marry or abolish marriage as a civil institution and make civil unions the sole legal institution. As for adoption I think they should be able to adopt. I know in many places the child might have trouble while growing up but that isn't the gay parents fault, it's the fault of homophobes. That won't chang until people are forced to accept it and get over it. The same thing happened with desegregation and interracial marriage.

You made quite a few good points, but I think that your region has influenced you to overrate the social stigma associated with homosexuals in other countries.

The example of the boy killing himself because of a rumour his father was gay is not the norm where I live at least. My math teacher in high school was gay, his adopted son went to my school a few grades below me; he made friends just fine. The teasing obviously surfaces occassionally, but most people have something that someone can tease them about.

I see...Well, I know it differs according to country and culture, but as far as I'm aware, the incident I've stated is pretty frequent in my region - Southern and South-East Asia as well as the Middle East.

I know next to nothing about how homosexuality is perceived in Western nations - I was just giving everyone an example of what usually happens here in Asia.

So - while I'm not denying its legal and moral importance, it's not actually the legal acceptance that matters...I think the social one is much more important. But I really doubt that'll happen anytime soon. After all, has anyone noticed how the most 'terrible' way to insult a man is to call him 'gay', and then laugh derisively?

No, I've seen much more terrible insults. Like a girl calling a man's penis small, and then laughing derisively.

Another regional difference, I see. The kind of 'insult' you mentioned is basically never used where I live 🤣

Quote from Skydreamer

who people love and decide to marry is their own damn business.

This thing that some people ban some from marrying is hard to understand for me, what is it they are so afraid of?

I have a uncle that is gay and married to his partner, i don't condemn it, i just don't understand how people can find men attractive i don't even get why not all female are lesbians.

But that is my personal taste, and force others to like the same as me is tyranny.

It's called being conservative dude. Political parties based on religion go nowhere.

It works great! You should try putting into action. You'll be the forerunner in anti-male insult technology! And you'll make them cry.

People should be able to marry who the want to. A couple getting married has no effect on me so who am I to stop them from getting hitched, if someone wants to get married, straight or gay, more power to them. As for the adoption yes same sex couples should be able to, I don't think it is bad for a child to grow up with out one parent, mom or dad, as long as the parents have a stable relationship to help support the child then they should be just fine.

Well, here is my thought. I am not sure if gay men truly "love" eachother since, well, I have known many homosexual men to be there just for the attention and... cough easy sex and that another man will better understand what sexually feels good. cough I have also known many young gays who are sexual deviants. (I apologize to the few male gays who are not like this, I am a straight girl who draws yaoi fan-comics, and has no interest in the gay community.)

I mean on the other hand, I've noticed I've felt sympathy for female homosexuals (lesbians) and bisexuals, because their sexual tendencies are usually results of sexual abuse by men.

In short, I wonder if homosexual marriage is even worth... it 😕 ?

(NOTE: my obsessive attraction to BL/Yaoi manga/anime, has NOTHING to do with this statement, since BL is different.)

Uuhhhhh no.. Maybe it happens sometimes (I don't really know), but you say 'are usually'.. Just no.

Back to the subject, there are even people who marry themself or anime pillows (something like that, don't remember where I read this), so I don't think gay marriage should be that big of an issue. It was said many time on this topic, anyone should be able to marry whoever he/she wants, that's not any of our business.

Everyone who thinks same-sex marriage should be outlawed should read this over and over until they finally get it.

Well, this certainly is an informed opinion. 🙄 Anyway, the world does not revolve around you. Deal with it.

What.

Anyway, your view of homosexual sexual deviancy completely ignores the rampant heterosexual deviancy that's also been existing lately.

It also ignores: That such deviants are not the same people asking to get married, and thus aren't who you should judge whether to allow marriage; that "easy-sex" wouldn't really matter to a straight man, as they wouldn't be interested in having gay sex anyway, and would only be an option for the poor stereotyped bisexuals, who are seen by many communities as hedonists even if they're not (This is really where your attraction to yaoi might play in, because reading too much of that stuff might eventually lead to the perception that everyone is bi); and your views on lesbians are, apparently, that they don't really exist, and that the ones who you do see are just pretending to avoid problems they have with intimacy with men.

So you think gays are just hedonists, all men are bi, gay men who ask for gay marriage don't want it, and lesbians are mythical creatures. You're crazy, I think.

I sincerely doubt this applies to any significant portion of the gay community... and if it did, so what? You think it's within your rights to deny people the right to marry because they're sexual 'deviants'? A 'deviant' is just someone who's sexual tastes don't fall into societal norms. Societal norms are pretty damn arbitrary in many cases. In the end it comes down to pissing on people because they're different.

I mean on the other hand, I've noticed I've felt sympathy for female homosexuals (lesbians) and bisexuals, because their sexual tendencies are usually results of sexual abuse by men.

This type of thing is really common. But only in fiction.

In short, I wonder if homosexual marriage is even worth... it 😕 ?

If two people are homosexual and attracted to one another...probably yes?

No, she's just Fan Dumb.

Of course, this just makes me want to think any person that lables themselves as Fujoshi or the eqivalent... doesn't give a damn about homosexual individuals and are just a version of homophobes who think they are "open-minded"

Of course, that's my bias.

Well, I was just thinking. And yes, I do KNOW gay men who are total sexual deviants, and even straight guys as well, this is why I don't prefer to date ANYBODY.

And I suppose I shouldn't have stated "usually", well, because I just knew some girls who resorted to homosexuality due to rape by their, ahem, relatives...

And... I don't think everyone is bisexual, yaoi is a fantasy-romance genre for a female audience, and shouldn't mean anything serious.

I am sorry, it was a misunderstanding on my part, please excuse

I mean on the other hand, I've noticed I've felt sympathy for female homosexuals (lesbians) and bisexuals, because their sexual tendencies are usually results of sexual abuse by men.

This type of thing is common, but only in fiction.

I actually met a lot of girls dealing with this, so no, its real.
