I think that it was just an ability of his Shikai.

Well, the two DS bleach fighting game have got his power wrong. For one of guys who's played out to be one of the stronger captains, his shikai is kind of lame, really. Just reminds me of Miss Golden Week's Color Traps in one piece. Hopefully, his ban kai won't be as lame (or
Ukitake's zanpakuto's abilities).

Poor Stark, he needs to survive this arc and become of Ichigo's gang like Grimmjow will (probably).

As far as I know Grimmjow is just knocked out right? He makes an awesome rival for Ichigo. I just love his attitude. In any case descent chapter.

But I gotta agree with Calíbre, Kubo is starting to run out of ideas. And did Kyoraku willingly let Starrk get a hit in when he told him it was Starrk's turn, or is it the rules of his shikai's power? Either way, it's pretty stupid.

Haha, the new power was such a surprise that I didn't mind this chapter for once. I actually was interested a little, and that hasn't happened...for a while now.

By the way, is anyone else wishing that Yoruichi will show up at least once before the series end? Figures that the only female character I like isn't showing up. >:-(

This chapter does seem subpar compared to the last few chapters. The only good parts in this chapter seem to be Starrk's flashbacks. Having Kyoraku interfere in the fight and show off his shikai's ability seems kinda like Kubo was doing a sort of filler chapter. He even ended the chapter with the same cliffhanger of having Starrk attacked with a possibly fatal attack. I can only hope the next chapter makes up for the lack of quality in this one and we can finally get the answer of whether Starrk is going to live or die.

I really really hope Starrk doesn't die because that would be awful to lose another awesome arrancar. And Starrk does have some very goodly qualities so here's to hoping that he lives.

man, his shikai ability seems like something you'd see in HxH, not Bleach, lol

Well, at least his zanpakuto's personality fits him it maybe annoying to use but it matches him lazing about all the time.

and i also think its a bit unfair
because he has an ass load of abilities and the opponent has to immediately learn how to play.

compared to the others this seems a bit complex.
just off the top of my head
extending sword- Ginji
mist cat- Rangiku

and also he doesn't seem to be having fun, so it just doesn't feel right
