Chapter 31 (SPOILER ALERT)

Ok I was wondering if anyone else, after reading this month's chapter, had any theories about Ciel's past.
My personal theory is all these Lord hid their pedophilia by philantropic activites and when they mentioned discussing it later they were actually referring to a secret discussion about kidnapping kids. Then when Father met Ciel he decided he had to have Ciel despite it being a noble child and heir to the Queen's Watchdog and therefore arranged the fire and death of Ciel's parents in order to cover up the kidnapping of Ciel. After all people could have assumed his body was burried in the rubble or something and the end to the Phantomhive household would be celebrated by many so I doubt anyone besides his aunts would have actually bothered looking for him. Not sure what then but obviously the Father wasn't around when Ciel ended up on the alter and summoning Sebastian so wasn't slaughtered with the rest of his secret society and since he wanted Ciel so badly he's decided to re-create the night.
I've heard a few people suggest Father was involved with the fire at the Phantomhive household which is why he is so injured so I'm probably not the only one to think along these lines. I just wondered what people thought. It was a great chapter in my opinion, though I wasn't expcting the father to be so derranged. I was expecting some complex over helping kids. Kidnapping those he saw as being from deprived households and since Ciel is an orphan his interest in him was because he saw Ciel as a charity case. I was surprised that he turned out to be a sinister sicko.

I don't think Father had anything to do with Ciel's parents death. It might be that Father is related to whoever did it or he offers some clue or hints at something else, but I don't think Father was involved--or at least directly involved.
After all, Father says that he regrets that he couldn't be there where Ciel was branded & in that cage & such...he says he wants to redo it. As seen here (well, it also begins a little the prev. page)

Well, it is possible that Father was burned or something (given the bandages), but shouldn't they have healed (or at least not have needed bandages) in the three years since? Also, I'm not sure why someone would face the Phantomhive household given their reputation just for Ciel...
Ciel probably was kidnapped b/c he was a cute little boy (heck, Father looks like he was dazzled & having fantasies about the cute Ciel), but that does not necessarily mean that is the reason Ciel's parents were killed...it could be that this philantrophy group was a cover for some shady business though (and Ciel's father was doing some undercover work, but then I don't think he would have/should have brought Ciel)...
Actually, that Father knows of Ciel's past does suggest a link to the people who killed Ciel's parents though, but that Father regrets not being there, proves that he wasn't there (& given his enthusiasm for it, he was not invited--else he would have come--suggesting he is even less linked, or linked in a different way)...
Also, anyone think that Ciel's father looks a little like Sebastin?

Agreed it's made clear that The Father missed out of Ciel's imprisonment which he clearly regrets. Given his obvious enthusiasm towards Ciels I'm thinking that he would only miss it if he physically couldn't be there. Considering he knew when it occured and what was likely to have happened it does suggest a link to the perpetrators which was why I was thinking maybe his injuries were recieved around the same time and he was physically unable to attend rather than simply not being invited. It's just a theory though.
I thought that as well about Sebastian and Ciel's father, glad I'm not the only one. Maybe Sebastian modelled himself on Ciel's father either because Ciel asked or because it amuses Sebastian or maybe Sebastian got the image from Ciel's subconcious and used it as a model. There's definite resemblance.

I think that I mostly agree: the main disagreement I have is the motivation of the Lords--some might be pedophiles, but I it's not likely all are and I just can't see Ciel's parents being killed just because the Lords want to possess the cuteness of Ciel.
(His kidnapping seemed to me to be more of a result of him being there, unprotected, and of value to sell or sacrifice; instead of a motivation. Unless we find out that there is something especially special about Ciel that would warrant this--besides him being cute, like a special power--such as something that draws demon to him and they knew about this in advance somehow [though is this was the case, shouldn't they have also had some sort of protection or means to control the demon instead?]...)
