Would you guys like to see some character design changes? I would like it, with them again 2 years, I would like to see them look older. I mean Naruto did it, and I gotta say I liked it. Also, is it this week or next week when 598 is coming out?

well i wont mind it, but i really wonder how much can you change in only 2 years, i mean in naruto they jumped from 12 to 15 practacally instant pubrty o3o

but with one piece most of them just jump from 17-19 and from 20 -22 or something like that, not much of a visible change o3o maybe slim ussop again XD

I don't think Oda would want Luffy to have a beard you silly boy 🙂 ! Luffy basically represents the feelings of a child: Adventurous, naive, simple-minded etc... Well, if Oda wants to draw Luffy a beard then his personality that we all love would have to be changed as well to a the concept of what a man is. (Which I doubt will happen). Usopp would be the one that will change physically, I'm predicting him to have a much more muscular body. I would love for Nami to have longer hair. Sanji would probably be a cross-dresser subconsciously. But to be honest the thing that I want the most is for this week to finish and for next week to start so that I can get my weekly fix of One Piece again! It's like the only one out of the big three that actually has a good story line!

The only time-skips done right (as far as character design is concerned) are 20th Century Boys and 666 Satan. That I've read, anyway.

Most authors are too scared to let their characters change at all. They don't want to risk them being disliked by former fans.

This also means most time skips are extremely shallow as far as character development goes. Look at Naruto for a popular example of a terrible time skip. Four years is a long time, especially for pre/early teens. Pretty lame when everyone stays the same.

Considering the character designs have changed very little over One Piece's extensive run, I suspect that they won't change much from any time skip either.

i think now they will be more serious...

Time skips never win, because people will be either upset that the characters changed too much, or upset that they didn't change enough even though they were gone for so long.

I'm personally hoping there won't be too much of a change, but you never know with Oda.

Doing nothing is very hard to do. You never know when you're done.
