Hey guys, I've been having some difficulty finding good mangas so I've come to the experts for a few recommendations! I haven't read much manga, but of those that I have read the only ones I have actually liked have been Death Note, Claymore, Berserk, Vagabond and Gantz. I've been an anime fan for a long time and only recently made the jump to manga. If it helps, here are some anime series I have liked as well:

As you can see, I tend tend somewhat violent/dark animes/manga. But it must have a strong story and character development as well.

Try Homunculus. It seems like you might not like it, judging from the series you like, but it's a great series anyway, and well worth a try.

why don't u try Battle Angel Alita, Blade of the Immortal , Ichi the Killer and u can search more by search by same genre on the title page

Battle Royale, the problem with this manga. Is that the amount of gore is SO much. That instead of adding the sense of horror or a feel of terror to the manga. By the time you read the first few chapters. It'll be become repetitive and in a way takes the fun out of reading it.

If you've seen the movie, be prepared. Some parts of the manga will make your stomach churn, in the wrong way.

Also the character designs for the insignificant characters are very ugly and for the significant characters they basically eye candy for the girls. And either normal looking for burly and extremely fit for the guys.

Otherwise it's a good manga, and you can find eighty-six chapters here Battle Royale. Unfortunately eighty-six chapters is not the end, and I don't know where to find the remaining.

Oh, you guys are totally correct. Battle royale is obscenely gruesome, it is definitely not for everyone to look at. To tell the truth, there were parts that were pretty shocking to me too. I would not say it is my favorite by a long shot, but THX2 was looking for recommendations and I thought that Battle Royale would fit nicely into the Bersek/Claymore/Hellsing style of dark action/violence. Sometimes its nice to be exposed to something even if you ended up having a negative opinion of it later.

The mangaka for Monster drew 20th Century Boys (the sequel 21th Century Boys is being made right now) and Pluto. Both series are pretty good. He also made Happy and Yawara. These two aren't dark, but I still like them. Urasawa Naoki is a great mangaka. 😀

i agree on that battle royale bit. it isn't bad to experience somethinga bit different. on the other hand, i still can't forget stuff like when

the group of girls who were all friends and protectedeach other ended up massacring each other . some disturbing stuff.

well anyways. if you want some manga to take up time, that aren't bad and are completed......

Anyway, my taste of manga is alot like yours, so feel free to check my reading list. I do have some romance manga and such though, you can only find so many "violent/dark animes/manga" ^^
