The Japanese publisher Media Factory announced on Tuesday that MM! light novel author Akinari Matsuno suddenly passed away on April 18. Matsuno won the 1st Media Factory Bunko J Light Novel New Author Award and made his debut with the science-fiction comedy work Aoba-kun to Uchū-Jin in October of 2005. He then launched the first volume in his second series — MM! — in February of 2007.

In Media Factory's announcement, Bunko J Editor-in-Chief Yasuji Misaka remembered Matsuno for his writing style that was full of warmth and laughter and had earned Matsuno many fans. MM! inspired a television anime series last October, and Media Factory published the 10th volume of the unfinished light novel series last September.

Many authors have been dying lately, it's really sad for their families and the fas of their work. Rest in peace.

Although I'm not a fan of MM!, it's sad to hear about the death of an author. Too bad there's no one that could finish his story for him like with Robert Jordon... My condolences to his family.

It's very unfortunate that he passed at such a young age, he was only 32.
I didn't read his works, but it's so discouraging to see talented writers pass away.
May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family, friends and fans
