I prefer personally, it's easier to understand people through their tones, gestures and facial expressions. If that isn't possible, then private/instant messaging, chatting, texting, and telephone, in that order.
I'm more inclined to speak over the phone, if I don't have to initiate the call, my last job kind of ruined that for me.
I prefer personal or over the phone. There are also times when I like instant messaging. But I hate texting.

Personal, face-to-face talking, followed by forums, chatting on video games, telephone, and Instant messaging, in that order. As for the other options, I don't use them/don't like them.

personally, then in writing. it depends on the person, actually. sometimes it's vice versa, sometimes either works.
face-to-face, but if I can't bring my self to do that for whatever reason I send a message.

Personally.
Passing notes are amusing at best. ♥
Face to face. Phone comes last.

Depends on the content of the conversation. There are some that I just can't say in person and some that needs to be said in person.
I hate talking on the phone and would rather avoid it for serious conversations. I get all flustered and self-conscious that I fumble all my words/etc. It's a weird condition 😕 .

Passing notes- Ok, but since I'm not in school I haven't done it much lately.
Chat- like IM? Yeah I like this. It's one of my favorite ways to speak since you don't have to see anyone, and my typing is pretty good.
Private message- This is ok but I tend to go on and on if I have that much space and no one to interrupt me XD
Telephone- Terrible. I hate it, and I can hardly be understood out of nervousness, my speaking becomes a lot worse than in real life.
Personally- Bad; I much prefer IMing or emails. I don't like being face to face at all, unless it's with family.
Web cam- Never done it.

Passing notes- I haven't really done this that often. People I want to talk to are either too far away or close enough that whispering is good enough. Though slow, it's pretty fun. It's got that danger element to it.
Chat- For IM, it's OK. It depends on the person. Some people are good with this and some people aren't. I don't really have enough people to talk to on this though and I rarely have a good entertaining conversation on it. It works though.
Private Message- Maybe a week ago, I would've said that I never tried this but thanks to someone (you know who you are), I have experienced it. This is OK. It works when there's nothing else. Sometimes, it's nice not to be interrupted.
Telephone- I don't really like this. My hearing goes out the window on the telephone and I can barely understand what's said and I have to strain to hear it. That's not very good in a conversation.
Personally- This is communication the way it was meant to be right? The most low tech and one of the greatest ways to communicate. You can say things where text isn't fast enough, add in gestures, do stuff with your voice, etc. It's great. Though, this might not be great for first impressions. Your looks and the sound of your voice can really set off a bad first impression or make the other treat you differently.
Webcam- I never personally tried it. Kinda depends on your cam though, I think. Some cams suck and have awful quality.

- In person
- By e-mail, chat ect.
- Webcam
Lastly by phone. I have a total phobia of using phones; It makes me nervous and the conversation is usually awkward.
I haven't passed notes since jr. high school. Oh, the memories 🤣
