I realize that this is a manga forum, but it's the only forum I regularly visit. So does anyone know how I can deal with email spam?

For the past two weeks or so, I've been getting tons of spam sent to my email. About 12 messages per hour. While gmail catches them all, this is really annoying. And who knows what would happen if this continues to go on?

I've been clicking on the unsubscribe links (must have clicked over 200 of them off and on) but I'm not sure if that's working. On Wikipedia, it says that might be bad because then spammers know it's a real and active email address. That makes a lot of sense to me. What can I do other than to ignore it 😕

While I was typing this, I got 2 more spam messages.

Clearly u must have at some point fallen prey to a lot of SHOOT THIS THING AND WIN AN XBOX 360!

I have gmail, and the only spam I get is from:
1.College stuff (my fault for putting my email on my PSAT)
2.Facebook

(I get a lot of spam in my spam folder, but I don't even click on that)

I have two emails. One for personal stuff like friends and family. The other for spam like subscriptions and junk.
As for your current problem, I don't have a solution. D: Sorry.

I'm not too sure about yours,
But for me, I would move those emails to my Junk folder and then delete them in there. After that, all of the emails from the same host will be immediately moved to the Junk folder to rot.

Same here haha. 🤣 I regret ever doing that.

I know that with gmail, they delete the spam after 30 days. There may be an option where you can shorten that time.

But personally, I have no problem with just clicking the "delete all spam" link.

I never click those. I'm not quite sure how I got them. I suspect that it was because I filled out my info to www.groovejob.com since that was right before I started getting this spam.

So I guess my best bet is to ignore them, and stop even clicking the unsubscribe links huh?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Just set g-mail to delete all your spam mail, then you wont get any at all.

Any frequently used phrases or e-mail addresses can be filtered and deleted before they even get to your spam folder with g-mail.

I use Yahoo mail and I always get spam...

I have a hotmail account that is my "professional" account, and I get no spam there.

No spam in years....

Sometimes I check my Spam Inbox on my oldest Gmail account and there's the occasional "Investment Banker" wanting me to sign up for his scam.
