(Possible Minor Spoilers)

I'm not usually in to superhero shows or comics and whatnot, but it sounded different so I gave it a try. I LOVE it. Tiger & Bunny is much better than any American superhero comics/shows (in my opinion). It does take American elements, but the whole "hero tv" thing was unique and the main character Kotetsu is just so lovable as a person, and even more so as a hero.

I'm expecting a season 2, even though the first season isn't quite finished yet, for 4 reasons:

1) I can see them making Kaede (Kotetsu's daughter) into a hero.

2) The show is just awesome.

3) (This may or may not be a reason lol) Something is up with that girl with 2 moles on her face and light brown hair that always shows up in the background. Anyone else notice her? She appears every few episodes. One episode (I think it was 20 or around there) she's sitting at a table in the Hero's Bar. In another episode she's walking down the street with an umbrella etc. I'm not sure what reason the people who made this show did this, but maybe she could be a future character?

4) They leave a lot open this season. This season isn't finished yet, mind you, but I doubt they will resolve/fully develop on all the open parts in the show by the end of it. For example, Lunatic. There is a lot of room to do stuff with him. Will he become the heroes main enemy? Could he eventually join the heroes? Agnes probably has a crush on Burnaby. They could develop that, or they could just leave it (If anything, they could use it as comic effect. It would be pretty funny.) Karina has a thing for Kotetsu, even though she's still in high school and Kotetsu is somewhere in his 30's. Not sure how they would (or should) develop that lol And as I mentioned before, they could easily make Kaede a hero (even though she's a kid. Her power is a useful one though). And there is still a lot about Kotestu they can touch on (his past, for example). The list goes on.

That said, they have more than enough material for at least another season or two.

I've never heard of this before, but after reading your description... I'm gonna give it a go! Sounds pretty interesting despite the fact that I've never been a big "superhero" person. eyes

Oooh I've wanted to watch this for some time. I don't mind Western superheroes but well, for many reasons, I lost interest in them over the years. This might be a refreshing take on that genre. smile

My friend suggested Tiger and Bunny to me, and at the time, I thought it was stupid. Then I started watching it. Now, I'm always waiting for saturdays ;D enough said.

It's cute enough. Not too brilliant, not too lame. The plots could do with a good bit of work, though; they're rather simplistic and not very well thought out. Overall, I consider it something to watch when I'm bored and want to relax my mind. I liked the first 9 episodes way more than eps.10-14, which were more than a little bit stupid. I stopped watching at that point; I'm waiting for it to end.

And this might sound petty, but I despise post time-skip Barnaby. He's like Kotetsu's obedient sidekick, and their wonderful "reluctant partners" dynamic has become completely non-existent! What's with the "I thought he was an idiot but I've completely changed my opinion of him now" and "You go get 'em partner, I'll just be a good boy and follow you around without actually doing anything" (okay, so that second line was partially of my own construction, but he did say something similar in ep.14)?

Btw -- is anyone rooting for Kotetsu x Blue Rose? I'm not. I frankly don't support May-December romances...especially not if the older person has a kid only a few years his partner's junior!

@TaoPaiPai - You're kind of over-reacting, imo. What does it matter about the ads? I barely noticed them. They were actually kind of...amusing.

@Calstine: Heh, hmm... I don't really care if people have a huge age-gap in between them. What matters most is they've the maturity to make the relationship work and if they like/love/accept one another. I know a truckload of adults older than me but well, 70% of these relationships were messy = fraud, blackmail, swindling, separation, divorce, fighting over assets, side partner('cos the other adult refused to let go and kept initiating contact and so on, so people kept insisting he/she is attached and even the police can't help, PI doesn't work, etc). And a long list of other messes. dead

I do know straights/gays/lesbians etc. in such relationships but for those who've a partner that's below legal barrier, it's non-sexual. And no, I don't want to get into a discussion over what's right and wrong for them as this isn't the right thread and I prefer to partake in panel discussions with a moderating team, who're very familiar with laws and civic issues, human rights efforts, etc., in local and other societies than arguing over a stance. Btw, many of my relatives and even my parents had quite a bit of an age gap between them, from "a few years" to "between 10 to 30 years". Some of them were match-made and some were not. smile

That said, damn... I really need to watch this soon as I don't really watch most anime anyways. I haven't even touched any series for years and this might be good to watch.

@dezin19 - I wouldn't hold out on much hope for a second season; I don't really think the show's popular enough for that. But who knows? Doesn't hurt to hope.

As for the scarf girl...I hadn't even noticed her before you mentioned it! But now that I think about it, she does put up an unusual number of appearances. TvTropes has her put down as a 'Recurring Extra' and stops at that, but I suppose she might turn out to be more important...Hopefully the show's writers will be smart enough to pull something off using her.

And could someone please tell me whether the latter half is at least a little more intelligent than the former half? Do other villains go down as pathetically and randomly as Jake Martinez did? I'd really like to know before I download the remaining eps. Internet is expensive over here so I have to choose wisely.

@VampireBanana - Actually, I was more concerned about the kid issue than the age gap -- I honestly don't know a single person who has gotten along with his/her step-parent; and the sparks seem to fly more when the age difference between the kid and the step-parent is smaller. All of them are in major hate-hate relationships with each other, and several such kids have confided that their homes don't feel like their own anymore -- which is a pity, even though it's inevitable.
But yes, let's not prolong the discussion -- it has nothing to do with the anime so at this point we're just trolling bigrazz

they will. eventually. you know that already laugh
and about the relationship between Tigger and Ice Girl(who actually blushes too much), no way it ever gonna be serious. here i am at ep 21, and
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
she even forgets about him. of course because of some lame NEXT criminal who is way too predictable if you had watched up to ep15~16. my guess is somehow her memory will come back and they will have some cheesy moment together and that's it. oh yeah, one more thing
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Tigger's kid is coming over to get him. Drama ensured

This is one of the few anime, let alone super hero shows I'm following.
Someone *couglawcough* got me into watching it.
Can't say I'm in love with it, but Tiger Kotetsu is just awesome.
He's the reason I'm watching.

I don't really want a second season.
This is one of those things that get tedious fast when dragged.

There was rather noticeable drop in quality during the tournament with Jake bit.
Though things seem to be picking up again.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I'm guessing tiger's kid'll fix things up.

You're welcome. bigrazz

I think romance doesn't have a place in this anime, so I think nothing should develop between Kotetsu and Karina. I really can't see that relationship working out either way.

Anyway, I do wish more episodes were like the most recent ones. In my opinion, a lot of episodes were wasted on Barnaby.

I don't want any romance in this show either dead

I think the people who made this show were aiming to make it like american superheroes to appeal to american audiences, that's why it lacks creativity lol (no offense to americans) but they were at least making fun of it at the same time, and i'm always up for satire. As for whether or not the second half /later episodes are more intelligent; i dunno. so far there hasn't been anymore bad guys except for the main bad guy of this show, and they haven't taken him down yet. Kotetsu is the best part of the show, I agree. It's nice to have an kind-hearted dad as a hero for a change instead of some young punk with teen angst or some chick with big boobs and an impossible waste line.

After the Jake episodes Burnaby did change his attitude, but I think he always liked Kotetsu but was too jaded to show it. Revenge and all that. Poor Bunny was just an angry and lonely boy. After he didn't have to worry about revenge anymore, he opened up and showed his feelings more. So, I didn't really think it was too weird for him to change like that. Also there was a several month time skip, so it wasn't like he changed over night.

The bit with the advertisents and the pepsi commercial and stuff was done for 2 reasons: 1) In case you didn't notice, they don't have a a segment thanking the sponsers of a show like most animes do (usually after the opening song) and I didn't see them in the credits either, so they paid tribute buy putting the sponsers' name on the hero's suits. Which also play into number 2. 2) It's part of the show, as mentioned before. The whole show is about "Hero TV" live broadcasting and stuff. It's an anime about a TV network, not just about the heroes. I think one of the reasons why some people find this show lame or boring, is because they forget the show is actually about a show and they just think it's another superhero anime.

and perhaps they won't make a second season. they have enough rope to make one but the first season can stand alone well enough, so who knows.
