Final Fantasy HD Remake for PS3/Vita

I'm assuming generally everyone has already heard of this, but ffx is in the process of being made and should be out sometime within a year or two. I'm making this thread, NOT so people can b%$=% about how it should have been 7(and it shouldn't have btw... I could understand griping about 8 kinda), but to see the hopes people have put in this remake.
Many people have hope for additional story/plot content, more cutscenes, different voice actors, changed battle systems(MADNESS >_<), and maybe some items/aeons/minigames that weren't in the first. The overall general hope seems to be that ffx-2 is included, and the game being revamped is the international version(as those who also shelled out the extra cash know, there are quite a few goodies in this release). So anyway what exactly are you hoping to come out of this game.... aside from online blitzball of course 😎 .
Also the poll and blitzball are my main hopes lol... additional hopes is pretty much everything above other than battle systems and voiceovers x.x.

Ha, ha... Within the next year or two? I sure hope it doesn't take two considering the original game took that same amount of time, but really, I guess it all depends on what they do with it. If it's going to be a regular port with enhanced special effects/models (ie using the HQ models 100% of the time verses switching between LQ and HQ due to hardware restraints/upscaling/ect.) or some added content in the form of online play, added areas, new abilities or whatever, then it shouldn't take all that long. Would it be a cash-in? Sure. But with the PS3's inability to play a PS2 disk nowadays, you can't really fault a game company for making one of their finest titles available to buy on a relevant gaming machine. Will I buy it? Probably not. My copy of Final Fantasy X will forever say "Square Soft", thank you very much (and my PS3 is backwards compatible), but if S-E wants to port it, cool.
Now if they plan to remake it using a modern graphics engine, that's another matter entirely. To remake it would actually be an interesting concept in FFX's case since a lot of original design aspects had to be cut due to the limitations of the PS2 (for example, the pointless "PlayOnline.com" logo on the start up screen that I still lol at to this day). It's been some time since I followed FFX (obviously), but this wiki has a lot of information regarding it's initial development plans that might be neat to see come to fruition now that hardware is no longer an issue.
That said, it really urks me when game developers remake games that currently have no business being remade. I'm not saying remakes are inherently bad, however. As an example of a couple games that could desperately use a remake, I'd say 'Metal Gear' and 'Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake' are PRIME candidates. (What'd you think I was gonna say? FFVII? Please. Game's fine, and I agree with SAimNE: let it go, fanboys.) Both were released on a now completely irrelevant piece of hardware (MSX), and were severally limited on what they could do, verses what they wanted to do. Why Konami hasn't jumped all over this is beyond me.
But I'm getting off topic.
FFX, in my opinion, is still a very well built title that only needs a port to keep it relevant. Instead of rehashing former glory, how bout giving me a final fantasy title I want to play, or ANY title worth playing for that matter. Sucking the tit of a pre-established fan-base is a fine business plan 'n all, but in the end, it gives you little or nothing in the innovation department. Yeah, they could throw in a few experimental gimmicks for the sake of testing the waters, but such pussy-footing only makes me scoff after witnessing Atlus' ballsy release of 'Catherine', or to a lesser extent their ultra enhanced port of Persona 3 - which strikes an excellent balance of keeping the original spirit, while still boldly testing new waters with a boatload of new content.
My bottom line is: A port? Cool. I won't buy it, but making it available to those who do is something no one should have a problem with. If they plan to remake it from the ground up, then I wish they'd spend their time developing something new. I've become somewhat cynical towards S-E as of late, and I don't see a cure in sight.
Unless, of course, they released, without any kind of hype or fan-fare, a game in the Chrono series. Just, out of nowhere throw a Chrono game on the table and say "Oh, yeah. We were making this too. Now what, bitches." That might be the comeback Square needs right now if they want to remain a game company........ and it'd make me shit a cinder-block in pure shock.
[fake edit]
Ahh... yeah. I just found that it's a remake, and not a port. Ugh..... Well, I'll try not to be cynical and see how it plays out. Might be cool, but I still can't help but think the time could be better spent making a new game.
[real edit]
Right. I forgot to express what I hope to see of this remake (since "a new game" isn't a viable option at this point). I hope it can be remade into the game it was originally intended to be. If it's to entail X-2 as well, I'd like to see Last Mission, too. Not that I particularly had anything against the English voice cast, there's no reason not to include the Japaneses voice track with the space allowed by Blu-ray (unless they want to release another version later to REALLY milk it). And on the subject of voice acting, how 'bout we just cement the fact that his name is 'Titus' and make the characters address him as such? (ie don't make him a nameable character)
I agree that Blitz Ball would be pretty cool online, but I'd also like to see better inovation in the game itself. I always thought of Blitz Ball as some sort of 3D soccer (albeit you can use your hands), yet you could only move on a 2D plane (in game). With the risk of it being a pain, they should add 3D movement to Blitz Ball. That, or add 3D movement with the option to play classic style. Whatever works.
Sphere Break would be nice to have in FFX as well, instead of it being X-2 exclusive(if they even do X-2). It was a fun little game, I guess.
Either way, it's probably gonna be something I grab in the bargain bin if I happen to see there several years later, unless Square does something spectacular, like the option of playing the game completely through Yuna's eyes or something

I loved FFX so I'm pretty pleased about the remake news, but whether I buy it depends on what they add or change because, like Badkarma, I still have my PS2 copy and a PS3 that's got backwards compatibility (or, failing that as sometimes there are still issues anyway, I think my family still have a PS2 in good condition somewhere). And also it depends what the price would be. But I would really love to play it in HD. Online blitzball would be awesome too. I used to spend hours just playing blitzball.
From Badkarma's link:
Originally, Final Fantasy X was going to feature enemies wandering visible on the field map with seamless transition into battles allowing players to move freely around the area during enemy encounters. Battle art director Shintaro Takai has explained the intention was for the battles to come across as a natural part of the story instead of an independent element.
It'd be great if they changed the game to include this. The constant interruption of those random encounters, and the transition between them, could be really frustrating if you were trying to get somewhere in a hurry. I really liked how it was in FFXIII - a seamless experience - and the spectacle of those huge mobs walking around on the plains was breathtaking too. Although thinking of FFX's maps, many of them only had very narrow paths, and I'm not sure how free-roaming mobs would work with that since the space would be pretty tight.
While I am happy about it, I'd probably rather they'd decided to remake FFVII. That's further back, thus meaning the remake would be more worthwhile, and the fans are pretty vocal in saying they want it remade. Also, I've never owned nor played FFVII so I'd feel more justified in buying a FFVII remake than a FFX remake.

Hmmmm I think id like to see enemies wandering around as well.... only cuz then I could run into them all much much faster > 😀 .... actually jk. Unlike in legend of dragoon the combat isn't rly fun its just way more entertaining than the norm... so id probably avoid all the fights and then b and moan while the sky dragon and yunalesca bend me over a table >_>.
Also @badkarma.... YESH!!!! I totally and completely agree about the 3d blitzball thing(of course the encounter range will have to be made wider to compensate) but ya it shouldn't be too hard for them to do so so I'm hoping they will(and rly hoping on the online as the npcs are so sad I usually shoot from behiind the goal with no interference xD)
Also it does seem they will release it without much fanfare.... I mean it was first announced 4 months ago and there hasn't been any movement, sneak peaks, or even widespread knowledge of it... only way to find out was to see third party reviews talk about what they said infront of the ffx logo... no clip... no adverts, no xIII-2 join advertising........ although I seriously hope they add the fanfare of x themed ps3/vita.... would be rather awesome to have a ffx themed console.
Can't wait to see the blitzball intro in epic graphics tho :F

Five may have a slight amount of credibility but the concept of IX deserving it is vaguely ridiculous 😛 . Anyway as stated before please don't take up space without continuing with the topic(hopes on what the remake will change/add)
