It'll be a decade next month! 😀 fun fact I learned of baka updates from an unholy combo of 4chan, aarinfantasy and Inuyasha journey.

I know I only made this account in 2011 but I found it in 2005 at the same time I was switching to the Naruto and One Piece manga from the anime. Back then #null was still re-scanning the last hundred chapters of One Piece in high quality. Found so many more manga via this site back then!

For literally 6 years I followed new releases by just manually scanning the lines of chapter releases on https://www.mangaupdates.com/releases.html . In retrospect that was a pretty dumb waste of time since I was already following around 60 series back then! Finally started making a reading list after that. And now I'm up to over 150 unfinished manga I follow....

Similar boat to you. I was a frequent un-registered visitor just checking the releases page nearly every hour before I finally made an account years later. I was tracking my reading lists back then on paper! I think I began my visits here since highschool, so around 2006.

Back when OneManga was still the go-to aggregate website... which I don't remember the year of. Question: did the Baka Updates URL used to be baka-updates or was it manga-updates and only the dash was removed? My memory isn't great.

It's always been baka-updates.com and mangaupdates.com

Ah, thank you very much! I must have mixed the two up to think mangaupdates had the dash in it.

Looks like I joined in 2009. I'm not entirely sure what spurred me to join in that year, but I remember not using aggregators or trackers for a very long time. Looking at my history, I see Eden was being published prior to 2009 so I likely used the site before registering as I remember coming here for those updates.

At one point or another I stopped removing series from "my list", so now this site is both a tracker that I visit daily, but also a logbook of the manga I used to read. I can scroll down my list, select a series and see when it was last updated, and remember where I was in my life when I was reading it.

Being able to see the group names, and scroll back through the release history and see which groups juggled which series really adds to the nostalgia as I've always consumed my series directly from the group pages where possible.

This site is an absolute treasure, and I really hope all of the data on here is being archived somehow.

14 years, wow. At that time mangatraders and this site were the two sites i visited the most. mangatraders shut down but even today i frequent your site at least 4-5 times a day. It's my favorite site on the net.

I've had an account for 4 years, which I created due to the demise of kissmanga (one of the best decisions I've made tbh). I did use the site regularly to look up series before I had an account, though.

Time sure flies! I didn't think about how long it's been until I saw people mention onemanga and mangatraders 😁 Good times! I remember staying up and reading all of eyeshield 21 in 3 days on onemanga. It was the plug 😎 I used to scope out manga updates for new manga all the time before getting an account.
