I prefer josei its just better. Shoujo is too generic these days its all the same! josei is always some thing different and more real. But I guess it depends on what age the reader is because I used to love shoujo but as I grew older I grew out of it.

Ditto this whole post. =)

i like shoujo because its lighter and it doesnt make me feel depressed or anything of that sort...ive read a bunch of josei and i guess the plot is too mature for me and its often smutty and theres just isnt enough humor in it...ahmmm...what else...josei is rare and you aren't exactly sure if the one your about to read is good or anything...

...josei is just too mature...guess i just admit me being immature there huh... 😮 😮

I read more shoujo, but I definitely like all of the little josei there is available. Although sometimes I wish that josei wasn't all about sex. There are a lot more mature themes to dwell upon and that appeal to the mature teen/young woman.

Err... Josei isn't all about sex. But yeah, scanlators "like" to pick those kinds... I think I read somewhere they say that the internet is for pron, so...

Don't give up, though. There are plenty of good scanlated josei titles out there, such as... err...

Shoujo contains idealistic romance while Josei takes on an realistic approach on romance/life.

Thank you very much for the reply! 🙂

I like both genres but it depends on the sense of story.

i like shoujo, mainly because it's cute and well, unrealistic. I just love immersing myself in things that don't seem 100% real. I absolutely love fantasies, so maybe that plays a part.

I think I probably prefer Jousei, or at the very least, shoujo that aren't over-the-top idealistic. I'll take either, though, as long as they have a compelling (and not overdone) plot and good characters. I don't like smut, though, so I usually pick jousei titles with care.

Josei. I like both, but generally josei is more to my liking. There are shoujo mangas I like alot too, but more of the josei ones.

Those are not genres, but demographics.
Also it greatly depends on what magazine it's serialized in.

I prefer josei because of the content, but I've read more shoujo since it seems to be more available.

I read more shoujo because I read it in the raw and shoujo has furigana with it. I get tired of looking up kanji...lame, huh?
